Using dining credits before resort Check-In

Do you have to check-into your resort in order to use your dining credits? We have an early morning ADR at Chef Mickey's and wasn't sure if we could go straight there or if we need to go to our resort and check-in to activate our dining credits. Thanks for any help!

You have to be checked in, but you can use the online check-in.

You can check in online, several days prior to your trip. Be sure to specify what time you are planning to arrive to the WDW area. You can go straight to the Contemporary without going to your resort. Your magic band will be activated to use.

Unless the system has drastically changed since the fall, checking in online will work SOMETIMES. It did not work for us and many others back in the fall, but some have reported success with it.

When I called to ask this same question the CM said the dining plan is good from 7 am on arrival day until midnight of checkout day. So if your bands do not work for some reason, I would charge it to the room and have them adjust it later.

This is awesome news if it works! DH & I will be traveling over from Vero Beach to stay one night at AKV. We will have the DP and it will be great if we can bypass the front desk and go straight to EP for the F&G!

Not sure why the bands wouldn't be working. I suppose you could then just pay for the meal and have guest services work it out?

I'm going to be adding a dining plan to a DVC stay soon so I will ask the CM about this when I call. In the past I have been told that we had to physically check in before the dining plan would be activated. I have always done online check-in so if I am able to bypass the front desk it will definitely be something new.
