Using banked points

I hope I can explain this question clearly.

I currently have a backup reservation at my home resort while I wait for the seven month window to open at the resort I would like to book. When the seven month window opens I would prefer to make the new reservation and then cancel the back up. My back up reservation is using banked points that I would like to reallocate to the new reservation once I cancel the back up. Can this be done once I make my new reservation and cancel the old? I know I will probably have to call member services to do it, but it can be done, right?

It can be done if there is still availability for your new reservation dates.

Make sure that you monitor your points to confirm that MS does what you want correctly.

Only MS can reallocate points, so if you have already made the reservation, then they would need to move the points around.

I think I would just call MS at the 7 month mark have them do the new reservation. They can hold a reservation, then cancel the original and move the points to the held reservation.

Unless things have recently changed, only management, team line, and lead advisors can hold inventory while making changes.

A couple of months ago a MS Advisor made a comment to me that members can hold inventory when booking online but MS still can't.

I called Member Services and they said that I can call and they can redistribute the points once I get my final reservation made. I'm so happy. Is it really that easy?
