Using Apple Watch in the parks

Just got a new Apple Watch and we leave for WDW in 1 week. Is using my new watch rather than my phone for keeping up with MDE or Genie+ an option? If so, do you have any tips for this Apple Watch newbie?

I'm supposed to be able to put my annual pass on it apparently, but I've never been able to make it work. It's on the phone but won't upload to the watch. So I don't know how good such options will be.

MDE Is not compatible with Apple Watch. Genie+ has not been rolled out yet and to my knowledge, will not be within one week. I'd be surprised if you can navigate it through Apple Watch.

Is your watch a Series 3 or newer and is it running the latest WatchOS (7.6.1)?

I am not even able to get the Magic Guide to load, which I thought was the dumbed down version MDE for watches? Am I mistaken in that?

Just got the Magic Pass in my Apple Wallet on my watch. One step at a time I guess.

I use my apple watch on the entry touch styles without any problem.

My family of four leaves tomorrow (yay!) and three of us have magic bands but my daughter wants to use her Apple watch. I'm unsure as to how to link her tickets to her watch? Help!

Can you tell me how to do this? My daughter did not get a Magic Band and wants to use her Apple Watch instead but I have no idea how to make that happen. We leave tomorrow!

The short answer is that you use the My Disney Experience app to set up Magic Mobile, which allows you to use your iPhone and/or Apple Watch as your pass (by adding it to your Apple Wallet).

If she doesn't have her own MDE account, you can set up Magic Mobile on your phone, then use the steps in there to send/share her pass to her phone so it's in her Apple Wallet.

One set of detailed steps is here: https://www.disneytouristblog.com/guide-magicmobile-iphone-apple-watch-disney-world/

On the MyDisney Experience App, tap the 3 lines to open the secondary menu. Select the option for Disney MagicMobile. This will open a screen where a pass can be created. Once the pass is created there is a button to "Select Pass to Share" - send this to your daughter. Once it is in her iPhone Wallet it should sync to her Apple Watch no problem.

Great info. Thanks.

If you setup MDE to have all 3 passes on your account, you can add all 3 to your Apple Wallet and by virtue, be able to add it to the Apple Watch (AW). You just need to swipe through each of the 3 passes for each of you. I tend to recommend that you use MagicBands for kids as it's easier and less troublesome than multiple passes on an iPhone or AW.

Thank you so much for this reply!

Do you have to open your wallet on your watch or does it automatically read the pass

For the iPhone, you need to bring up each pass to be scanned for theme park entry. I haven’t tried MagicMobile on the Apple Watch myself but I believe it scans automatically as a “transit pass” on Apple Wallet which doesn’t need authentication.

Hi all - curious if original poster or some of the other folks that responded have used Apple Watch successfully to enter park and Genie+?

I already successfully created the Mobile Wallet tickets and sent to the users. I'm debating if I get my nieces apple watch for Christmas instead of magic bands since they can't find their old MB. Thanks!!!
