Using an ECV but no need for accessible room

I just thought of this question...Do regular rooms have doors wide enough to get an ECV in?

A little background on this: My partner will be using an ECV when we go to WDW next year and I plan on renting from an offsite company so it is available whenever needed. He is not handicapped, but cannot walk long distances because of a foot problem. Therefore we don't need an accessible room. I know the doors of the All Stars rooms are at an angle so it would be easy to drive one in, but I don't remember how wide they are. Also, what about other resorts? Say the POFQ for instance.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

We've stayed in AKL in a regular room with an ECV. The door was plenty wide. The threshold was a problem, but I just stood behind him and pushed and the added momentum did the trick. Good Luck!

POFQ, the other moderates and values (And probably all of the others) are wide enough to accomodate virtually all ECVs and wheelchairs. I do make a point of requesting a 1st floor room rather than fussing with the elevators though.

Yes, We always stay at Moderates and I can always get my ECV in and have room to park inside too :moped: We always get the 1st floor too.. :thumbsup2

I have stayed in value and moderates, no problems here. I have even had an ECV on the 2nd floor of POP, would rather have 1st floor but upper floors are doable. Just stayed at POFQ in Sept, had a bottom floor in building 7 by the water, had plenty of room..

:moped: Dec 06 for :santa:

Thanks for all the responses.

And thanks for reminding me about getting a 1st floor room. It'll be much easier than messing with the elevators.

I think we'll stay at POFQ this time. We did ASMo last time and while nice, it was a little crowded and noisy at times. Especially for a 2 week stay, I think I'd prefer the quieter resort.

Virtually all ECVs and wheelchairs are built narrow enough to fit through a regular door.

I believe all the resorts have 32 or 36 inch wide doors. The handicapped rooms have the same width doors as all the other rooms. So, as the others said, don't worry.
