I was wondering if anyone can describe how traveling with an ECV without a handicapped parking pass works at the parks ????
I am assuming that means we have to park in the normal parking lots but I am not certain.

Some background.

I will be traveling with my mother in law to WDW in a couple of weeks.
She is mobile but only for short distances so we have decided to get her an ECV for the trip.

We are staying off property so we will be using a rental car to get around
but I think you need the parking pass to park in the Handicapped lot.
I know the ECV will not work on the parking trams.
I was wondering

Thanks for any ideas you can pass on
Glenn

Hi and :welcome: to both DisBoards and disABILITIES!

There are three possibilities; a lot may depend on how crowded things are.

One would be to take her and the ECV to a dropoff area. Then you would have to go around to a regular parking spot (which could take quite a while) and meet at a specific location outside the park turnstiles. This, of course, would mean you would have to get to your car and then back to the dropoff area to pick her up.

Another would be to park in a regular space and she would drive the ECV to the gate area while you take the tram.

Third would be to explain to one of the parking CMs and park in the Diamond Lot, which is very close to Disabled Parking. Do not park in Disabled Parking, even if a CM says it is OK. That lot is patrolled and enforced by the Orange County Sheriff's Office. The ticket is $250, and, in a rental car, the rental company will get a copy of the ticket after it is not paid and will hit your credit card for the amount of the ticket plus a handling charge.

we use the third option mentioned by cheshire figment and park in the diamond lot which means we are close to the park entrance without having to use the tram, without parking in the designated disabled bays. a few times a CM has said to use the disabled bays but we never have due to the fine and the fact that although i have an ecv someone else may need the bay more than i do and need the extra space to open doors etc.
