Using American Express Gift Checks at Restaurants

Has anyone ever used the American Express Gift checks to pay for their meals? These are not Travelers checks, I don't know the big difference. My DH got them from his company for a job well done. They don't have a name on them and I wanted to give them to my DD to use on her trip. Thanks.
