Using ADR for take-out?

Kind of a weird question, but if we have an ADR at a particular time and it turns out we're really not hungry then ... can we go in, sit down, get some drinks, and order our meal to go? Just curious if anyone has ever done this.

I've never read of anyone actually doing this except for a handful of posts from families that ate at a restaurant and then ordered an additional meal for someone who wasn't there. However, whenever someone asks about walking up to the podium and ordering something "to go," the answer is invariably you would have to make a reservation, be seated, order, then ask for boxes to pack everything up. Some things travel better than others, especially if it is warm or humid outside so keep this in mind. Also, you'll need to bring a bag or tote because the TS restaurants have boxes, but most do not have bags for carrying the to go containers. Leak proof ziploc bags can also be useful.

Thanks! We would probably order things that were specifically easy to carry or box up, with the idea that we would find a nice spot to sit down and eat later (maybe waiting for a parade), or we knew we were heading back to our hotel soon.

We did a bunch of ADR's on the Dining Plan during our last visit, and our only real issue was we sometimes found ourselves having to go eat just because we had a reservation rather because we were actually hungry. Didn't want to end up like that again, and my wife suggested we just get it to-go if we weren't hungry and eat it later. Sounds like a good enough idea, but with Disney getting stricter with the ADR system I wasn't sure we'd be able to do it.
