Using a temporary AP to check into hotel room?

First CM I spoke to said it would not be a problem using our temporary APs to check into our hotel room (as we got a really good AP rate so booked through that :thumbsup2).

However, I spoke to another CM later to book (who I had no confidence in as they gave me some rubbish advice on packages!), who told me that I would not be able to check in to the hotel with temp APs. That we would have to drop our bags off at hotel, go to the Park to upgrade APs, then go back to check in :confused3:eek:.

Do you think that this will be the case? It is a lot of faff for us to do that with two young children and cases etc. We won't arrive until about 5pm as it is so would rather get into our room, sort out a few bits then head to the park.

I can't see what difference it makes - we have paid for the APs already, have the temp ones 'in hand', just need to get them made up to permanent when we get in the Park :confused3.

All I can say is, I've booked room only with AP discount twice, and have never been asked to show my AP at all when checking in at my hotel. As always, the booking confirmation email and passport number of the lead name has been all thats been required.

Like you I can't really see why it would make any difference, but at least if they do insist on you showing your real passes then you are near enough to pop to the park and pop back again. Hopefully though it will be like Elaine said and they won't even ask for them.

Thanks ladies :-) The CM who told me this was the same woman who tried to tell me there were no RO rates left (when I had just been given prices 20 mins beforehand!), and she tried to give me a price for the HNY that was over £400 above what I was being quoted on the net! So, needless to say, I'm not overly confident she was talking sense!!

I just don't think DH will be happy if we get to the hotel and have to march straight back out again with the kids etc. I can't see it being a problem, like I said, we have paid for the APs already.

Elaine - that is interesting about them not even looking. I guess it is because they get your AP number when you make the booking but they should still check it! Like most things at Disney (as I'm learning), I suppose it depends on the CM you get checking you in...

AS others have said you probably wont be asked but if you are you would probably only need one AP anyhow so you wouldnt all need to go to exchange them anyhow

Small World - that would be me going off then as DH hasn't a clue about APs and doesn't speak any French so would be hopeless at working it all out himself ;)... Bless him - I suppose I get the better deal though. I get to go into the Park first (on my own!) and he has to entertain the girls somewhere while I spend best part of half hour - 1 hour in the AP bureau....

Hopefully though it won't come to that! :lmao:

When we switched our tickets for APs last year it took no more than 15 minutes to do all 5.

Wow, that is great. But with it being half term I figured it might be busier :confused3. Everywhere I read states 'keep at least half hour free' to sort.

But, I had thought if we did them on Sunday night once we get into the Park that hopefully it might not be too busy.... I can see the girls really wanting to go and sit in an 'office' for half an hour when we've just arrived :rotfl: Hope the cartoons are on :rolleyes1

It was August when we did ours, so not exactly a quiet time. We waited for a couple of minutes for a CM to be free and then she just needed names, addresses, DOB and took a photo each and printed the cards. All very efficient. :goodvibes

Good news to hear you can still book RO with the discount before you have exchanged for your permanent pass then. I have a Eticket as a temporary AP but is the AP number the really long one, if that's not to silly a question!?
