Using 2 day park tickets in 1 day

They are very specifically called "days," not "entries." To me, that's a pretty obvious distinction. You can't use more than one "day" in a day. It just doesn't make any sense to me

But I suppose that isn't the case for everyone since it's asked so frequently. Back when the economy was in really bad shape, this question would be asked every single day (often multiple times per day.)

Not only that, but the tickets that allow you to go to more than one park on one day are called "park hoppers". I don't understand why people think they can park hop without a park hopper ticket.

Because outside of the Disney universe, it just makes sense that if you buy 2 of anything, you can use them any way you wish. If I buy 2 apples, I can eat one today, and the 2nd today, tomorrow, or next week. If I buy 2 movie theater passes, I can use them for myself on 2 days, for 2 movies on the same day, or for 2 people at the same movie.

It's a reasonable extension of logic that if I buy 2 day's entry to Disney parks, I would be able to use them for the same park on 2 days or 2 parks on the same day.

I'm not saying it should be that way, just defending why people unfamiliar with Disney's ways might assume that.

When you get to WDW, go to guest relations and see if you can exchange the 5-day ticket for 4-day hopper so that you are not blowing off one whole day ticket.

This question comes up at least weekly on the forum as well as stories of disappointed guests trying to enter a second park as you describe and being turned away at the turnstile.

If the Park hopper could be added as a one day thing then it would be worth it otherwise it would not be cost effective for us. Glad to find this out now then to get to the park and be turned away.

Because I thought we had five day tickets and thought there might be a chance to use the 5th on the same day basically using 5 within a 4 day span if that makes sense. I know you can not hop with one ticket unless it is a park hopper.

I'm still not sure why this idea still persists to this day. It has been like this for ages. You CANNOT use a multi day ticket to enter more than one park per day without a hopper option. Especially after the 4th/5th days etc, those days become very economical (sometimes like $10 or $20) so no, you cannot use them to 'double up' on your park days. That day is provided as a discount for purchasing the 'package' essentially. As Robo says, the only way you could do that is if you burned two completely unrelated single day tickets, which would be extremely cost ineffective (much better idea to add hopping for the entire 5 days and have the option to come and go as you please.) Adding hopping for a single day isn't the best use either (but its cheaper than two single day tickets.) The advantage is that once you add a hopper, there are unlimited hops you can make, so even if you ended up missing a show you wanted to see, you can hop back on Day 5 and only catch the highlights if you wanted.

Base is base, people. One park, one day, the end. (I know MANY of you on here know this. I'm still amazed some don't, and this misinformation keeps coming up.)

OP, of course, you can always upgrade to a hopper, but if you wait until the end of the park days, you lose some of the value of having had it. Say you plan a day at DAK, it closes at 5 or 6, if you had the hopper option, you could still potentially spend till 11pm or 12am at MK and make a totally long awesome day of it, if you wanted, and if you had a hopper. Otherwise, once your first park closes, with a base ticket, you are done for that day.

This is only our 2nd trip to Disney so we are not as knowledgeable as everyone who goes regularly. Although I have done a tremendous amount of research there are still things I am learning. These boards have been a blessing. So what may be obvious to the seasoned Disney Park goer may not be to everyone.

Oh, yes, we all understand what you mean. The reason Disney doesn't allow it is simply because of the price. A 5-day ticket is $335. A 6 day ticket is $346. A 4-day park hopper is $403. So it would be much cheaper for all of us to buy a 5 day, or a 6 day, and use it for a 3-4 day trip and visit multiple parks.

The thing is, even those of us who buy park hoppers don't usually "hop" all that much. It just makes sure to keep our options open when we visit a park that closes early, like AK that closes at 5 PM.

Disney knows that we all thought of buying a 6 day ticket to use it over 4 days. So they made rules to make sure we couldn't.

Yep I figured that out. Even though I may not like it that does make sense.

Just called Disney and we will be able to downgrade our tickets from 5 day to 4 day. Since there are 7 of us we will save $70. There just is no way we could fit in a 5th day at the park so this will work out better for us!
I am happy you were able to resolve to your satisfaction!

Eh, I don't know, I don't think it's that obvious that you can't do this. So let's say on a five-day ticket, each ticket is costing you about $60. So if you wanted to burn two of those entitlements on one day by entering two different parks, it's not exactly free. I can see why this question gets asked.
I too am amazed people think you can do this. I knew without these boards it couldn't be done. One simple thing told me right away, why would they even sell a park hopper if you could use 2 days worth of tickets in one day?

Few years ago we had 4 day tickets, my brother went with us to MK then met his friends at Epcot for lunch
We didn't have park hopper

And the fourth day (when we found out about his little lunch) he wasn't admitted into the park with us.

If things happened that way, there was a glitch in the system.

I agree fully with above. Very understandable to get confused with Disney rules, procedures and terminology. You asked an excellent question, horse. It is asked often, due to the fact that of easy confusion on that topic.

Great to hear Disney came through for your group, they usually do. Enjoy the trip.

I'm so glad to hear this, that's a nice refund to get back!

Ok, that's fine, I see that point too. But I don't think it's that surprising that someone could think otherwise. Not everyone sits around pondering the meaning of the Park Hopper, know what I mean?
