Useless facts/Chit Chat Thread

Useless fact ~

We saw Madagascar II last night and would recommend it. My whole family thought it was funny (and I run the gamet on ages ~ 17, 12, 4). If you saw the first one and like it, you will like this one as well.

Just an FYI :)

thanks, i was thinking of taking my kids to see that this weekend.`

And don't let him overindulge, tisn't good for a man of his advanced age:rotfl2:

You either, ya old fart! :cool1: :lmao:

The first stop after we checked in in was Wally World for, well for some BEER. I got some Pilsner Urquell, which is brewed in Pilzen, Czechoslovakia - this is the ORIGINAL pilsner. It is very, very, very good beer.

This timeshare is amazing! It's huge, with everything you could possibly need. 2BR, 2BR (so I use stall #2) with a jacuzzi, screened porch, 1200sf. What a nice place! It's recently been renovated and the grounds crew were adding about 10 million bags of mulch.

We're off to US today and will hit F&W tomorrow. Talk to you all later!

HMMMMMMM. I wonder where he wanted to go first? ;)

Actually, he went to Wal-Mart to get some beer, wine & groceries. Does that surprise anyone? We spent last evening with them & walked to Cracker Barrel for dinner - basically out the door and across a parking lot.

You should see the time share he's renting for the week. It's HUGE!! Two bedroom, two bath, fully stocked kitchen, washer/dryer, jaccuzzi tub, dining room, living room, balcony that overlooks a small lake. It's as big as my house!! Maybe bigger! It's the Wyndham Cypress Pointe Time Share on US 192E, behind the Cracker Barrel. He rented it thru an Armed Forces discount program for $329/wk. Unbelieveable! I'll let him post pictures when he gets home.

MY HOUSE IS DONE!!! (Almost) They still have to get us the right shutters. We don't know if they are going to match the house, or are going to be white or some other color. The shutters they brought with them had a big sticker on the box that said "MUST BE PAINTED" No way, no how, we said.

Anywho,

Has anyone heard from Phyllis lately?

 Hey Karla..I'm here. Thanks for asking. Spent the week in Disney. Went with my older son, who came into some last minute vacation time. Then my younger guy came down mid week to join us.
Weather was pretty crappy for most of the week. We did have two nice days of sunny, 80 degree weather..rest was cloudy. Of course we flew home on a perfectly beautiful day. Personally I could have cared less, I enjoy the Florida warmth, and enjoy seeing leaves still on trees and flowers in bloom. My son...big grouch. Wanted a sunny...lay by the pool type of vacation. Spent most of his time pissed off at the weather or at kids. (tried tellin' him it's freakin' Disney World...but the grouch didn't want to hear it. He is also not very patient with the slower pace of the Florida drivers. Can you tell he works in Manhattan?...I swear he's gonna have a heart attack before he's 30 if he keeps this up. Next time he offers to take me on vacation with him..I'm sayin.."thanks but no thanks". My 17 year old came down on Tuesday..and we had fun. He had to save his old mom, from the Disney grinch.
I can't blame his bad mood all on the weather, the trip got off to a BAD start. POR Riverside was the pits. The Mansion area (or what my son refers to as the "government housing" area was DISGUSTING..soda stains dripped down the walls, stains on the carpet..squashed bug guts on the bathroom celing..and best of all..was the graffiti on the underside of the bedspread. Yep...they offer reading material. When you turn down the bed...apparently someone named Jeana(not sure, forgot the name, but something like that) anyway..she "was here". Made you wonder what else was there.:crazy2: All this after checking in at 10 am and not getting into this palace of luxury until 5:00 pm. They were supposed to move us the following morning. Only then they told us we would have to wait again the following day unitl 5 PM again. We checked out.
Went to the Wilderness Lodge. No complaints. Place was beautiful as always. Was pretty shocked to find that Disney had four different resorts available all at discounted rates...all available for the dates we needed. At this point all I wanted was a place to lay my a** down. My sciatica had kicked in. I wanted some drugs and a heating pad!

Anyway...that's my story, and thanks for asking for me. (bet you're sorry you did now! )

Phyllis, I have a very nice email address at the exec offices that you can voice your complaints with....check out the angry thread and see what i am talking about...I will pm it to you if you would like. Let me know.

Carol-

The house transformation is awesome! On our previous home we got rid of the T-111 as soon as we could and had stucco put in it's place. T-111 looks good for about the first......um...... well..... it just doesn't look good.

I'm sure you & Rick are glad the work is all done! I love the bay in your kitchen! I have one, too!

Can't wait to see you again in December!:thumbsup2

Deb

Carol, the house looks GREAT!

Phyllis sorry to hear about your experience at POR. Although our experience wasn't as bad...we were NOT impressed with POR either! :sad2: Sorry we missed you over Halloween...maybe next time!

Hope everyone is having a great weekend!

I'd like that e-mail address Jen..thanks. If you could PM it to me I'd appreciate it. I don't expect they'll do anything about it..but someone should know. I think when you speak to a manager(which my son did) it doesn't really go any further. I mean they want to keep their jobs, so their going to squash any complaints, so they don't go to the higher ups.

When we left, my son asked to speak to a manager. He told him that we were leaving and why. He said that this was for your information..do what you want with it, as we wouldn't be staying..and told him the condition the room was in, and the graffiti on the bedspread. Mentioning that you couldn't miss it..obviously housekeeping HAD to see it. I mean how do you miss dried soda stains runnig down the wall either? The guy didn't say a word. Just shook his head..and told us that he used to "cover" at the WL and it was a great resort ...have a good time. They KNOW what's going on there. The guy has GOT to hear these complaints a thousand times a day.
The idea that ONLY families of 5 can occupy the Alligator Bayou rooms is a crock. It was my understanding when booking it, that it is a request. No one said..."nope..you can't request that, because you won't be five people in the room" Now, granted..you may not get that request. However to deny us that request because we weren't a family of 5 was just wrong. I know for a fact that there were plenty of those rooms occupied by families with less than 5 people in them. That's why the first manager told us to hold on a day..and she'd put us in one. If you read Trip Advisor POR is getting slammed about the Magnolia area. Seems everyone has had the same issues. If you're lucky enough to be placed in the newly refurbished Bayou area, you have a better chance of having a clean room. THAT"s why everyone is asking for them.
I personally would have switched to the Caribbean Beach. Bob and I ate at the food court there are few times when we were there last month and really liked it. The resort is freshly painted, and the rooms looked bright and cheerful. The new pool is really nice. Terrific play area for the kids. With a bucket that drops water on them..complete with it's own slide. The new pool is pretty large and offers two slides now. I thought I read somewhere that the new pool scheduled for FW will follow the set up they have at Carribean. If it does..it's gonna be really nice.:thumbsup2
