Interesting, Tammi. I would think that the rooms that face the courtyard would essentially have the same view toward MK as SL rooms?

From our marina view rooms in SL, we could also see the lagoon (although the back corner of it) as well as the monorail in the far distance. We could also see the fireworks very clearly. No leaning, just gazing to the right even if seated in the balcony chairs.

I agree. SL does feel cozy. :sunny:

We've requested the Lodge Tower Room that was mentioned on another thread. But if we can't get it, I'm definitely asking for a marina view. I'm just so very pleased with the upgrade to full service!

We actually asked to be moved from one of the SL marina view rooms. We started off being closer to the Conch Key building end and it really blocked off any fireworks views. We got moved up a floor, closer to the main building side and could see the fireworks fine from being seated on the balcony. For the garden view rooms in the main building, I was just thinking of the view from the lounge. That's more to the right of those rooms and I know you can't see the castle or fireworks from there. I just figured that as you moved closer to the marina view rooms, you'd be able to see the fireworks and depending on what floor you were on, possibly the castle too. It just would be looking to your left alittle bit while on the balcony.

Triplefigs, good luck with your room request. It's so great that you'll be receiving the full service lounge now. Sugar Loaf is really so quaint and quiet. I think you'll really enjoy your stay there.

Does anyone know if we can pay to add concierge service to a 2 bedroom villa at WL? We have stayed on the concierge floor before and enjoyed the extras.
Beth

Beth, you might try asking that question on the DVC board too. I seem to remember someone posting that they were able to add it on but I can't even remember which DVC resort was involved.

If it is allowed, I would suspect that your chances of adding it on would be best at checkin or at least not until close to your stay. I would think it would only be allowed if the concierge isn't too full. Just a guess.

But one of the great benefits of concierge is convenience. You really lose that convenience if you have to go to another building, up the elevator, etc.. We usually split our stays between Polynesian/BCV and we really don't miss the concierge service at all when we're at BCV. Full size fridge can hold lots of treats. :sunny:

Has anyone yet confirmed rehab dates for the 14th floor at CR?

I asked this question from IPO and was told it hasn't started yet and it wouldn't be completed until 2007. It's the best they could give me. I was hoping they would've done the 14th floor by now.

2007??! Could that be true?
With the tower scheduled to be completed in feb 2006 i doubt they'd have everyone else in rehabbed rooms before starting the 14th floor.

Sorry for the long post -- but confused and need advice. :goodvibes

This will be our first time on concierge. We will be at YC for 8 days. I am totally at a loss how to schedule our day as regards meals.

I know we will have breakfast at the lounge, but I need advice on how to plan rest of meals -- taking in consideration of YC snacks/foods available throughout the day. We will go to parks in morning, then return around noon for DD 5 to take naps/swim/relax. We intend to head back to the parks, maybe by 4 or 5?

Do most have at least one sit down meal a day? Do you do it at lunch and then eat a light dinner using lounge and counter service in the park? or vice versa. What times do you eat? Do you really even eat that often in the lounge area -- other than maybe breakfast and late night offerings?

We plan to try to take advantage of the world showcase being so close and with such a diverse selection. We think that it would possible to eat there almost everyday either at lunch or dinner before we head out to parks.

Is this feesible? Should I even think of trying to work the lounge offerings into our daily plan?

This is a real dilemma to me. :confused3

Thanks for any tips or advice -- it is greatly appreciated. :wave2:

Hi Disney Longhorn!

You will really enjoy your CL stay. It will enhance your stay and is a real treat.

Breakfast is the only "meal" at the lounge. There is the normal breakfast stuff, bagels muffins cereals fruit and beverages. The other offerings are not intended to replace meals, but more snacks. It is nice to return to the hotel mid afternoon and have cookies, snacks and lemonade or water. The evening offerings are also considered appetizers, not a meal. It is not intended for that purpose, it is more of a wine and cheese, veggies and canapes kind of thing. While I am getting ready for dinner, my DH will go down and get me a glass of wine and some veggies on a plate and bring it back to the room. In the morning before breakfast he will go and get us coffee. It's a very nice thing to have but I would not plan my dining around it. Sometimes I will not have dessert in the restaurant because I know I might have some sweets and a cordial at the lounge.

Enjoy your trip :flower:

Disney Longhorn, just echoing what Gonga posted. Other than breakfast, you can't really call any of the offerings a meal replacement. The lounge is only open during certain hours too, so you want to make note of that. It's always subject to change, but when we there in December, it looked like this:

6:30am ~ coffee carafe placed outside the lounge doors
7am-10:30am ~ lounge open for deluxe continental breakfast
10:30-11:00am ~ lounge closed for cleaning
11am-4pm ~ lounge open with cold drinks, goldfish crackers, gummy worms, nuts, assorted cookies, pudding cups
4-5pm ~ lounge closed for cleaning
5-7:30pm ~ lounge open for appetizers, wine & beer available
7:30-8pm ~ lounge closed for cleaning
8-10pm ~ lounge open for min-desserts and cordials
10pm-7am ~ lounge closed

If you happen to pass by during a closed period, you can ask one of the staff members to grab a soda or cold drink for you. We usually start out with breakfast in the lounge and then head for a park. I do like an afternoon break, so we'll stop by the lounge to pick up a snack on our way to the pool. We do tend to snack more in the afternoon or grab counter service and then do a big dinner. The lounge is nice for grabbing a glass of wine and maybe some cheese & crackers. There are usually 2 hot dishes served like a soup and maybe a beef or fish dish. If you had a big or late lunch, this may be fine for a meal.

Being so close to Epcot and MGM, we found it really convenient to go back and forth between the resort and the parks. We did find ourselves taking a quick stroll to the UK for Fish & Chips one night, so that is certainly do-able.

I would have thought that they would have completed 14 first, then worked down. I know we have a couple of DIS'ers enjoying the 14th floor soon, so maybe we can get some updates.

It's my understanding that the 12th floor is either in the process of being rehabbed, or will be started soon. Those guests who had scheduled concierge stays on this floor are reporting that they were notified of a move to the 10th floor during rehab. The 12th floor will reopen January 2006 with a new lounge and expanded hours and service.

I'll be there next week ( 12th floor or 10th- guess we'll find out when we get there! ). I promise a full report when we get back :)

Tammi

This is what I am most curious about. Was it a lot of trouble to run over to World Show case to eat from YC? I read so much about how you can spend all of your time going to, waiting, eating, and returning from your meals. Our intention is to try to eat most meals at WS b/c we both are adventurous when it comes to eating (trying to train DD5 same way -- so far, so good).

Also, how we intended to use snacks/appetizers at lounge was primarily in the way you descibed. A couple of times we intend to have sit down meals (CM's) at lunch, and assumed that this would carry us over with supplements from the lounge as well as CS if we really got hungry in evening (and of course, desserts in evening at lounge :teeth:

Did you find you were at lounge area during the 5-7 offerings? We thought that probably we would be heading back to parks by then or at least to our dinner arrangements. Would I be able to get a glass of wine in the afternoons? My favorite thing in the whole world is to sit on balcony, sip a glass and enjoy a little snack on the side -- Heaven!!

Sorry for the long post, but I am full of questions.

Thanks!! :goodvibes

Wine is only offered in the evening. I found that we were often out of the hotel during 5-7 too so I started eating later lunches or would have a snack in the afternoon and eating dinner at a later time. It worked out well because we had the down time with a glass of wine and an appetizer and then were able to go and enjoy a real meal at a later hour.

Yeah, Tammi that is my point. I think they rehabbed the 10th floor already so that when they move the 12th floor guests they will be in new rooms while the 12th is being done.

I'd be interested in hearing from those who have been on the 14th floor if they'd rather stay there again or be in a new room on the 10th?

Mr.Mike, it would be great if an upcoming guest of the 10th floor takes some notes and fills us all in. Just a guess on my part, but they probably are still offering the more limited concierge and only a small lounge area. When the 12th floor is complete, they'll have the enhanced concierge, plus a full lounge that will overlook the MK. :goodvibes

DisneyLonghorn, you are within walking minutes of the WS. Realistically, it was something like 5-10 minutes and entering at the Int'l Gateway, you're right in the middle of the WS.

We were typically on our way back out to either parks or dinner at about 5pm, so we would stop into the lounge for a glass of wine or a quick nosh.

I will be checking in next Wednesday- right now we're not sure if we'll be put on the 10th or the 12th floor. I plan on giving a full report when we get back :sunny:
