Useful Concierge Information

Just a couple of notes: Just returned from YC concierge this past weekend. They now put out beer along with the wine service.

Please, please, please ladies and gentlemen......when you use the lounge please don't treat it like a restaurant. I saw numerous people, even whole families just leave their empty plates and glasses and even leftover food on the tables and just get up and walk out. There is a cart provided for used plates and glasses and a wastebasket also. Please clean up after yourselves so there are clean places for others to sit and enjoy the lounge offerings. CM's were constantly having to come behind these people and clear their dirty dishes. I had never seen this before in my many trips to YC concierge but this year it seemed everyone was doing it. I also finally saw the "bathrobe wearing guest" in the lounge too.

YCFAN, I agree, especially since seating is limited in the YC lounge. On many occassions we had to clean off the table from a previous guest before sitting down ourselves. I know it's concierge and there are some who probably assume that the staff will clean up after them, but that sometimes doesn't happen when it's busy in the lounge. We noticed the beer during our December stay. It was kept cold underneath the sideboard.

Well said, YCFAN! When we were at POLY concierge lounge last fall we could not believe how many people got up and left all of their stuff on the table. Just as you said, it is a lounge not a restaraunt!

That's rediculous. The least people could do is tidy away their used plates etc. I hope I don't encounter this when we are at The Polynesian in a few weeks. The CMs must have enough to do, without the un-necessary need for cleaning up after guests as well.

Just found out that our departure has been pushed back to 8:30 pm. (I know more time in the parks). If we check out at 11 am and have our luggage stored will we be able to use the lounge beyond 11 am? (Staying at the Poly, if that makes any difference).

Planning to use ME and have read that you must leave quite a while before your flight. Does anyone know approx. times on this...for some reason, I'm thinking around 3 hours ahead.

I don't know anything about ME, but I do know that you have access to the concierge lounge until the end of your check-out day.

We spent a little time at the lounge on Sunday afternoon, before our limo arrived to take us to the airport. Your room card/Hawaii building access card will still work, even after you check out, on that same day.

It was great to have someplace to relax. DSs played cards and we had a drink and a snack before we left. :)

You can always call the concierge desk on the morning that you're checking out and request a late check-out time. Late check out is usually 1pm. We were able to get late check-out on Sunday, but we were out of the room by noon anyway because we went back to the Magic Kingdom for a little while. But it's nice to know you might be able to have a little more time in your room on your last day.

Thanks, SeaSpray. That is great to know. It is going to be a long day on the kids and knowing that we have a place to relax that day definitely is making me more glad I chose concierge.
(Although, not so thrilled with TA when she called this afternoon and told me of the flight change.)

I am getting a little apprehensive about this ME. Has anyone used it? I'm starting to think we should get a town car or a limo would be fun. I don't mind them handling our bags. I think they'll get to the resort OK, but wondering about the bus ride. Will we have a lot of stops on our way? Crowded? (Sorry to stray from the thread topic)

Tammy, EAD and kerrycm...

The Boardwalk Inn has availability in 2 catagories concierge standard and a concierge deluxe, I could get Dad the deluxe and me the standard about $80 more per night for each reservation.

Thr kids are revolting they want BC's pool. and We do switch to BWV on Monday anyway. I know I am being a pain in the fanny, I just really don't want to screw this up!! Did I read somthing about BWI's lounge stays open like AKL's. and that Yacht and Beach is in fact closed between offerings. for instance. If it's hot during the day, will Dad be able to pop on into the lounge or is it restricted to those serving times only? And if that is indeed the case doesn't that make for a more Buffett line type atmosphere???? Insight girls I need your insight!!!! :rotfl:

Yes, The BW lounge stays open all day. I know the YC and BC close in between service for cleaning. You can ask a CM to get a drink for you, but I have not had the most pleasent experiences with this. I love the Innkeeper's Club at the BW. The cast are just wonderful and the lounge is nice to sit and have that cold drink.

mlwear, I used the ME in May when i went on my "girlsonly" trip. I loved it! I had no problems with it at all. We landed at 11:40am, got in the checkin line right away and by 12:10 we were on our way. When we checked in the CM knew exactly when we landed, checked in and that my luggage was on the way. Sure enough 40 minutes later it was in our room. Leaving was fine too. We did need the extra time getting to the airport. We flew Song, so were able to check luggage and get our boading passes. That was a real timesaver.

well My saga has finally ended. I was able to grab another Yacht Club concierge room tonight. So we are all now at the Yacht and staying put. I have been making myself nuts trying to make everyone happy. I got the room and now thats the end of it!!!!

I am sure it will be great We have never stayed there so differant will be nice.

Thanks so much for all the advice!!!

Tammy I have already put in the request for the :wizard: daybed!!!

Just changed my standard concierge room to the deluxe for our trip in 2 weeks (thanks KerryCM). Do I recall you saying there are only 2 on the 4th flloor? Should I contact concierge and request one of these? How far are they from the Innkeepers Club? elevators? Thanks for the picts. :earsgirl:

Well with our group I've decided it will be worth the cost of the town car. Before ME we rented a mini van (too many of us for a car) and my DH found that pretty stressful plus we had to bring 3 carseats. Last year I got a limo instead and they provided carseats for the older 2 and it was cheaper than a weeks rental of a minivan. They met us right at luggage claim and helped us with our bags. I did the grocery stop even though I was staying CL because there are a few things that the kids like that CL doesn't have (smooth (kid) yogart, velveta cheese slices, Pepsi for DH...). I must say that the kids didn't seem as excited by the limo as I thought they'd be and I actually found it a bit hard to get in/out of so this year I'm just getting a van instead. I think with your DS you may prefer a town car and it gets you more vacation time at WDW! :teeth:

We just used ME this past week. It was great!! We went straight from the plane to the bus, no carseat required. They had a nice little Disney film on the bus and my 4 year old loved it! We landed at 7:35 am and were checked into the hotel and in MGM park by 9:00 am. Never had to worry about the luggage and when we returned to the room after lunch our bags were in our room. We thought it was great!

psar There are 3 rooms on the 4th floor. I would e-mail your planner and request one of these rooms. They are very close to the lounge. you will not regret your choice.

I've read on a few posts that the CR 10th floor is roped off for rehab.
Does that mean the 14th, 12th and 11th floor rooms are done?

Can anyone confirm that?

Thanks

I tried calling CR IPO today with this question, and I got a message that they are closed today, but will open tomorrow, but I thought one of you great experts might know the answer, sooo

Does anyone know if the rooms on the 14th floor are specifically designated smoking and non-smoking? We have a 2 queen bed room reserved. I know that there are three of those, and a handicapped as well, for a total of four rooms that we have a shot at. My son has severe asthma, and I need to know if the room we are getting is a definite non-smoking room. Does anyone know if there are specific non-smoking queen rooms, and which ones they are? I want to make sure that they don't put us in a smoking room that has been "cleaned". I have had that experience, and it just doesn't work for us. Thanks!

I would like to know the status of the upgrades on the 14th floor as well. I was already bumped from CL at Poly b/c of upgrades. I was moved to the 14th floor of CR. We are coming in on 9/18 for 4 nights. I hope I am not bumped again!
