Useful Concierge Information

We received info from GF IPO about 2 weeks after we booked. I had already been in touch with them though via email and phone and did not need to use the paperwork they sent me.

We had booked CL at WL back in December and were never contacted by IPO staff. They were nice when we got there, but there was no effort beforehand. I make all my own ADR's, etc....I don't really NEED them for anything, but the effort would've been nice, y'know?

We booked BWI CL this past Wed. for a December stay. Let's see if we hear from them. Again, we don't NEED anything, but the overture would be appreciated... ;)

Also, according to the DIS, all deluxe rooms at BWI are BW view. However, the CM taking my reservation said they are not and he'd note it on my ressie. I contacted the BWI IPO and they said the same thing. The also said to fax a "reminder request" a few days prior to checking in and they'll see what they can do.

Can anyone confirm/deny that the deluxe rooms (i.e. the oversized rooms with 2 queens and a sitting area) are BW view???

Wow...I feel bad for all the posters that do not hear from the IPO office. I made a reservation back in December for the WL for June of 08. I received an email within 2 weeks. I emailed back my requests and they actually called my home to confirm one of my requests. :)

I also stayed at the Poly concierge about 3 years ago and they were just as cordial. I'm not sure what is happening?

As mentioned here before, the emails from concierge now come from

corp.business.objects at disney.com

I first thought it was some advertising for disney mail order and was ready to delete it.

So, you MAY be getting the itinerary planning material but deleting it.

I have booked a Club level room at Poly for 6 nights and then the Beach club Club level for 3 nights. I am hoping to be able to get a discount using my AP for our June stay but won't probably know for sure until May. IF we end up changing resorts (and not doing club level) or just eliminating the club level but same resort, what happens to all the dining ressies that they made for me? Has anyone ever been in this situation?

By the way, I received my email for the Poly within a few days of booking, and the Beach Club about a week after booking.

Does anyone know the answer to my question two posts above? It's starting to make me nervous. Should I make all my own ADR's?

I believe that your ADRs are connected to your home phone number, not your room reservation itself. You should be just fine. But I am posting this in hopes that IF I am wrong (and I have been once or twice before  ) someone who knows differently will answer your question. If nothing else, it will act as a "bump" to the thread to put it back at the top for you.

This may be answered in here somewhere, but I'll be taking my laptop this year - are you able to get free wi-fi at the Poly, maybe at the Hawaii bldg? Or is this a Starbucks re-route for $$?

I would just go ahead and make them yourself if you think there's a chance you won't be staying club level. I've read that the reservations made by the concierge staff are canceled if the reservation is canceled. Those reservations are apparently linked with the room reservation. If you make them yourself, they will be linked to your phone number.

And frankly, it does make sense. Too easy for abuse otherwise.

There is a charge of $9.98 or 9.99/24 hours for internet connection in the rooms. I can't remember if the Polynesian lobby has WiFi but if it does, it would be a separate $9.98/24 hour.

Only free internet is in DVC villas for members and that's rolling out currently according to reports.

I booked a last minute stay at AKL Concierge yesterday. I emailed the IPO office and got the standard you'll-hear-from-us-in-24-hours response. I emailed them again this afternoon (hate to be a pest but we arrive in less than 10 days and with everyone and their mother on the dining plan I want to get my reservations firmed up:scared: ) Since we leave so soon and I don't exactly have the luxury of time should I call them? I have to say I have stayed concierge at many hotels all over the world. This will be my third stay club level at Disney in the past year and their IPO is by far the most lacking. I'm not sure exactly what the problem is but I've stayed at three different hotels (well two, AKL will be the third) and every time it's like I have to make it my full time job to track someone down. I would just do it myself but this is a service I'm totally paying for so that defeats the purpose of spending this sort of money. Sorry to sound all pissy but it irks me each and every time. I swear if it weren't so convenient with the kids when I actually got down there I would totally save my money and book a regular room.:sad2:

AKL concierge planning do seem to be very overstretched/understaffed... have to say it has been somewhat less than the personal VIP attention that i was hoping for, but when you do get through to them they are very knowledgeable and helpful...

Bear in mind too that they may have been closed Monday for President's Day (their VM greet does say that they are closed holidays), so they probably have a backlog of voice/emails to catch up with

Well, ok, thanks. Sounds like my iPhone to the rescue!

AKL is usually one of the better ones I am surprised. I would call them and if you get the voicemail leave a message saying you have booked a last min trip and that you need someone to call you or that you are emailing your adrs and requests and could someone back to you.

I have been working AKL IPO for my May trip. As a matter of fact, I emailed them this week, I think it was Monday, to make a reservation and they emailed me back the next day (definitely within the 24 hour period) with my confirmed reservation. They have been wonderful. I have gotten everything exactly when I requested it.

Must be nice. LOL:rotfl: I'm going to just call them. I don't have time to be playing aound with them. We leave in 9 days!:cheer2:
