Useful Concierge Information

Hello knowledgable DISers!
I read a lot of this thread, but not all. I am booked for a deluxe concierge room at the Beach Club this coming April and am hoping to get some information.
Has anyone stayed in the deluxe concierge room before? Is it indeed bigger than a regular concierge room (we're a family of 6)? I heard from the CM I spoke to that it is on a different floor than the lounge, but just an elevator away (whatever that means...)
This is our first stay at Disney ever and I'm just learning. I booked all my ADRs. Other than that, what do you get in contact with the IPO prior to your trip for? What kind of "goodies" (as someone in a prior post called them!) should I be requesting? I want to make sure we're utilizing them and getting our $ worth.
How is the BC Concierge? Food good? I keep reading that Disney coffee is on the bad side... do the concierge lounges serve different better coffee?
Anything I've read about the BC concierge has not been from someone who stayed there recently.
By chance anyone have pics?
Any experience/advice/suggestions are greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance!!

:tigger:

It's no big deal to be on a different floor from the lounge. We actually prefer it at AKL. The lounge is small @ BC and it can be cramped at peak times if you visiting during a busier time of year. If it's spring break kind of timing then expect it to be crowded. We never ate got to eat in the lounge because of crowds. We ate in our room instead (we had a large room so biggie really  ). The people were very pushy getting food, but that's a guest problem and not a CM/service problem. The food was okay. Nothing stood out to me. It's your basic continental breakfast, snacks and a hot appetizer/desserts in the evening. I prefer not to stay CL at the BC/YC unless it's off season. The CM's were very good to us at BC though. I love the proximity of Epcot/MGM and the decor of the rooms.

You'll still have a great stay with the right frame of mind. Don't let a few hoarders ruin your time. I actually waved people through and told them I'm in no rush. I got a few looks so maybe I was a bit sassy? :confused3 But hey at least my blood pressure stayed low during my vacation by not having people reaching over me and sighing. :thumbsup2 KWIM?

Thanks for the input. What things should I be using the concierge for in addition to ADRs? What kind of special requests for your room can be made? What else do you use the concierge for? What would they do for my son's bday? (Im sure bdays are common...)

Hi :)

Here's what I use IPO for:

They make all of my ADRs; they book all of our tours (in May we're doing the "Keys to the Kingdom" tour at MK and the "Wildlife Discovery Tour" at AK; they note my room/location requests; on past trips when I've mentioned special occasions such as anniversary, during our trip we had an autographed photo written out to us and left in our room; in 2005 I requested the the golden Mickey ears be embroidered with our names and placed in our room when we checked in (for this I gave them my credit card info); for this next trip I plan on requesting a pair of embroidered Mickey ears for our Aunt who hasn't been to Disney World in over 20 years (again, they have my credit card on file and will charge me for this).

If you give them your credit card number to keep on file, they can basically purchase anything you want such as wine, champagne, chocolate covered strawberries, etc. to be delivered to your room during your trip. Of course you can order these things yourself, but if you like to have everything done beforehand, then it's great to be able to just email IPO with all of your requests.

For your son's birthday, you can ask them to place some special items in the room for him; however if you make this request, then they will charge you. SOMETIMES when you mention a special occasion, they will take it upon themselves to do something such as balloons, or the autographed photo that I mentioned above. But these are not things that they HAVE to do, so if you really want something done, it's better to ORDER them and pay for them, rather than wait and see if they do anything and be disappointed if they don't.

Hope you have a great trip! :)

We had a club level room at the WL last month. When we arrived, it was confusing on how to check in. I walked in the lobby, saw a big line at the regular check in area, then remembered that we didn't have to wait in that line. I thought someone outside (valet?) was supposed to talk to the conceirge workers to check us in. So I went back outside to tell the valet and he took us in to the regular conceirge desk (one for everyone in the hotel) who seemed flustered about our check in. What did I do wrong?

We are staying 6 nights at the Poly (LV Club level) and 3 nights at the Beach Club (GV CLub) in June and want to make sure I do it correctly.
Thanks!

By the way, we really enjoyed our stay at the WL club. My dh is insisting we always stay Club level if we can. He was impressed on how we were able to get some HTG dining ressies and the personalized service.

You didnt do anything wrong with your check-in. The Valet should bring you to the CL desk to check in. They aren't WDW CM's, so sometimes they arent aware of the processes.

When you go to check in at the Poly, stop by the Valet stand on your way in.

I emailed AKL IPO to advise them of my upcoming trip (Oct. 08). The rep stated he was not able to pull up my reservation. :confused3

A few things you should check:

1) Is the reservation possibly under someone else's name?
2) Has your deposit been made? The reservations may not download to their system if you havent made a deposit.
3) Did you provide them with a confirmation number? The confirmation number can also vary if you booked online, through a TA, or over the phone with Disney.
4) Did you book through a TA? Sometimes TA's will put the reservations they book under their own names or under the company they work for. You should contact the TA for your travel information.

I booked reservation with Disney Vacation Club. I need to double check with DVC when they open.

Ahh, that could be your problem. The system that DVC uses to book is directly linked to the system the resorts use, not the system that the reservations department and IPO offices use. AKL, being the first place to have CL villas, is still trying to work out the occasional bugs in this. If you get ahold of DVC they should be able to get it synched for you :thumbsup2

does the poly offer water bottles and soda?? This would be great for my family.

There's a built-in fridge in the concierge lounge at the Polynesian:

You can get a can of soda virtually any time, day or night.

They put out large glass bottles of spring water during the day; you can request a bottle to keep in your room if you want. They don't have small individual plastic bottles of water, but if you get a large glass bottle for your room, you can refill plastic bottles yourself to take to the parks.

The glass bottles of spring water:

Other beverages out throughout the day: (Iced tea, lemonade, orange/guava/passion fruit juice)

Juices and milk in the morning:

They also have wine, beer, and cordials in the evenings.

does anyone have pictures or any info about the BWI club level lounge?

DarlingDumbo-The lounge at the BWI is fantastic. It is located on the 4th floor. There are standard club level rooms and deluxe club level rooms. The CM are the best.:lmao: We just came back the beginning of January and are looking to return this coming May. They have become a second family to us. :lovestruc The lounge is open from 7am-10 serving a continental breakfast, then from 11-4 for juice and snacks, then from 5-7 serving appetizers, beer, wine, cheese, then from 8-10 serving dessert and cordials. If you would like wine or beer instead, all you need to do is ask. You can also take back to your room a bottle of water if you just ask a castmember. You can also watch Illuminations from the balcony. This comes in handy in bad weather. The staff can assist you with ADR's or scheduling of tours.
