Useful Concierge Information

For those who know him..Don from AKL told me to say Hi! Or as he says "Quack Quack"!!!!:lmao:

I apologize if this question has been asked hundreds of times. I did start reading the thread but started feeling overwhelmed about 20 pages in. Then I just started reading random pages and most likely have missed answers to my questions.

Anyway, we just got back from CSR and loved it but we sure would like to try AK or the Poly sometime. I'd love to do AK Concierge level so we could do the extra safaris but I have questions about food.

Do people still get the dining plan at Concierge level, or is that a waste of money when so much food is offered in the lounge. Also, I see breakfast usually consists of cereal, rolls, etc but do they offer anything hot like eggs? or even hard boiled eggs? I eat low carb so I don't eat flour or sugar. I tend to stick to proteins, fruits and vegetables. I'm wondering if there would be much I could personally eat at the Concierge lounge. It would only be my husband and I, no kids. So I'm not sure how much of a value Concierge would have for us. I think the lounges would be awesome for families with kids.

Any thoughts would be appreciated. Again I apologize if I'm rehashing the same old questions.

I have never considered the dining plan, for us it wouldn't be worth it. The food served at the Concierge is not full meals, but it has always been enough to satisfy us. We usually end up getting one table service meal a day, of course we do snack around the park. I don't know what AKL serves, but I don't think any serve eggs (not sure on this). I have to have a special diet ( no wheat gluten) and have been able to contact the Chef's via e-mail ahead of time. I had a wonderful response from the Contemporary last year, and so far it looks like the Boardwalk will be great too. The first year I went to the Boardwalk I requested just cheese and fruit and veggies. They complied everyday. I have found out about contacting the Chef's directly, and have a better variety of food. I do not believe it should be a problem if you have a special diet you follow. I don't know if they would make eggs or not, but perhaps they would work something else out with you. The evening offerings will probably have more to offer you. If you book AKL, contact the IPO office as soon as possible and ask for a direct Chef's e-mail. Good luck!:)

We stayed at the Poly last year and we used the dining plan. The lounge is nice, but I still want a "regular" meal. ;)

SeaSpray and anyone else interested, the tour was awesome.:thumbsup2 We were out on the savanna for an hour and 15 minutes. A couple of rhino's laid down in front of our van and didn't see any reason to move.:rotfl2: They had to call for back up. Another truck came with food and they slowly decided that food was better than blocking our way. You go in a 16 passanger van and they pull off the road several times so you can really watch the animals, and get closer to them. We spent quite a bit of time watching the baby elephants playing. We also got to touch elephant hair and an ostrich egg, oh and giraffe poo, I passed on that one.:lmao:

OK, I've posted on the 'solos/adults' board but I'd really like some input from you concierge regulars.

I'm planning a solo trip later next year/early 2009, I will be visiting the parks but most of time will be spent doing other things (shopping/chilling around the resort/spa treatments).

I've stayed concierge at the GF RPC, YC and BWI and loved all 3 but I'm really stuck choosing where to stay. I really loved the GF RPC but didn't see too many people 'solo' and am concerned if I chose the GF I might feel a bit out of place.

So, out of these 3 options which would you go for if you were travelling solo?

:scared: Leaving 17 Jan for 5 days at YC-C. Never received a planning questionnaire, but did e-mail the YC IPO about a month ago for my ADR's and got all of them including Cali Grill. Gave a brief description of our history at WDW and why we are taking this trip.
I still feel I am missing something.:confused3 No one has offered the safari tour. (I booked through a TA, she asked about ADR's at day 45 when I paid the finial bill. Had to tell her already done.) Also, the suggestions my TA had for ADR's where opposite of our taste, we are staying at the YC not the campground if that gives you a clue.
So.... I just e-mailed YC IPO about the questioniarre, safari tour, and a question about towncar/DME/luggage.
When do you get your papers/luggage tags if you use a TA?
I guess I am getting a little anxious. :scared:

We did this on 11/29/07 and it was magical!!!:) :)
A giraffe baby stuck its nose in the van and so did an ostrich. We touched the poo :rotfl: . The presentation was very good and we all asked questions. You could tell they really liked there jobs. I would do this again in a heartbeat!!

I say the Polynesian!! :rotfl2:

We booked WL club level back in October. In several past CL stays, we got something in the mail prior to our trip w/ club level info. This time I got a random email from an address of "Corp Business Objects" it was in my spam folder and I almost deleted it. It was an itinerary that I was to fill out what we needed for ADRs and other tickets/programs (including the safari, kids club reservations, etc.) and email, fax or mail back to them. It's possible you did get an email but never realized that was what it was.

Personally, I'd rather get something in the mail rather than this odd email.

We are going to be at AKL for a christmas time trip in 2008 and this will be our first time on club level and we cant wait.I have heard really good things about akl club level ...but for the price we could not pass it up... we got it for 201.00 a night....i am just worried we will not want to stay a reg room again...has this ever happened to anyone?

I say the Polynesian!! :rotfl2:

LOL - I've now finally gone ahead and booked a garden view concierge room at the Yacht Club :dance3: I've stayed in a lagoon view concierge room there before but for the difference in price I can indulge in some spa treatments .... the spa treatments won :thumbsup2

Um, yeah. Our first adult stay at WDW was at the AKL cl. Our next trip was the Poly cl. Downgrading after that for a trip or 2 was haaaard. Happily, we leave in 14 days for the WL club level.

Do you think you could post when you get back with all the great details? I am going in April and am so curious how the 7th floor is set up.I have stayed in WL a few times but never club level. For ex, where exactly is the old faithful lounge area? Is it on the side of the Roaring forks or the other side or is it in the middle of the 2 wings:confused3 .Also I had heard that all the views are courtyard view but i dont know how that could be. How are the rooms set up on the 7th floor ect. If you could find out that would be so appreciated.
You must be so excited!!!!  I am so jealous. I wish I was leaving in 12 days:woohoo: Have a wonderful trip!

Robin

I know this is not one of the Resorts you asked about, but have you thought of trying the Atrium Club or Tower Club Level floors at the Contemporary? Basically here are there main differences.

With the Atrium Club a Magic Kingdom View room has to be a request, just like with a Bay Lake View room. So the only thing you will be guaranteed is a room up there, however you may not get the view you want.

With the Tower Club there are a total of 16 rooms, 5 of which are standard rooms and the rest being 1 & 2 Bedroom Suites, a Vice Presidential Suite and a Presidential Suite. With the standard rooms once again there is no guarantee of a Magic Kingdom or Bay Lake View. However with any of the Suite rooms it will say Magic Kingdom or Bay Lake and that means you are guaranteed to have that specific room view. Chances are you could get a Magic Kingdom with a standard room since 4 of them are on the Magic Kingdom side and one is on the Bay Lake side. Of course that is not a 100% guarantee, because if you were to stay there they could be taken by other guests. So that means you would be in the Standard Room on the Bay Lake side.

The lounge on the 12th floor is bigger with more seating then the one on the 14th floor. However since they took out 2 or 3 rooms then the 12th floor lounge should be a lot bigger. Although the lounge on the 14th floor also offers seating outside on the balcony, which is something that is not offered on the 12th floor lounge.

If noise is not a factor with the 12th floor you can hear everything going down on the 4th floor, although with the expectation of singing going on at Chef Mickey's I don't find it that bad. If noise is a factor then the 14th floor is great because you don't look down to the 4th floor. However that means things would be a lot quieter, if you can live with that.

Finally both floors serve the exact same foods for breakfast, afternoon snacks, 5:00 PM hors d'oeuvres and 8:00 PM deserts & cordials.

So in the end the 12th floor Atrium Club is less expensive then the 14th floor Tower Club, even though on both floors you would get the exact same service. The 14th floor is more expensive because fewer number of rooms and because of the Suites.

I can help a little with the WL info. We stayed there Nov. 2006. I doubt too much has changed. Old Faithful Club would be located right above the Mercantile Entrance off the Main Lobby. It's off the elevators to the right of the "bridge" in the lobby.

The rooms are just like any of the other rooms in the lodge. I believe there are some Honeymoon Suites that would be considered Woods view. If memory serves me, most of the rooms would be Courtyard view, with a few Woods View too. We were a large group of Adults, so we booked the VP Suite, which is over the Roaring Forks side, at the very end of the hallway. We definitely passed Courtyard rooms and rooms that I would guess would be Woods view on the way back to our room. At the end of the hallway to the VP Suite there is a large Window that overlooks the Magic Kingdom. We were able to view the Fireworks from there. There were some chairs and benches setup so you can sit and watch. Grab a snack and enjoy!

The 7th floor is smaller than the other floors, but it still has the basic horseshoe design. Our room was at the end of a wing, but we never dreaded the walk back after we visited the parks.

Enjoy your visit! I wish I was going back soon.

Disney 1992, Thank you so much. That is exactly what I was looking for. Have a great night.

Disney1992 - I also appreciate the info you just posted! My family leaves for WL - club level in 4 days!!! I am so excited...maybe more so than my kids!!!
