I've not stayed at AKL CL in a while, but they've always been great and the atmosphere can't be beat. The food offerings usually don't change much over time.

For those having a hard time with CR IPO, I'd also call them and mention you've e-mailed them "X" number of times with no response. If you still don't hear back then you may need to speak to a manager on duty. There's bound to be a reasonable explanation. I know 2-3 days is usually adequate time and 1 day turn around time is typical. Maybe a technical glitch? An overload of requests at one time and not enough help? You just never know. A phone call will usually be responded to. Try early morning as well. You might be in a better position to speak to someone live rather than just voicemail. Good luck!

You are using the correct e-mail address. As an update, I just resent my request today, and I did hear back within a couple of hours. So, who knows, maybe some days are busier than others and some e-mails go unanswered on busy days?

I don't know if calling will yield better results (I've read here that e-mail is preferred). There is also a fax number, I'm not sure if they'll respond to that.

Keep trying and Good Luck!

Thanks ksc37 and VAgal76! I don't believe this but not 30 minutes after I posted my HELP message the CR IPO staff responded! After two weeks of e-mails I got my response - yeah!!!

But to add to my frustration, WDW after four years and several corrections WDW still has the wrong e-mail address and note in my file that says "no e-mail communication". I have no clue why that ever went in my file but someone always tries to remove it and it reappears!!!!!!! That may explain why I didn't get an IPO Itinerary form this year (but not why I DID get one last year.)

Again, thanks for the help!

Kathy (who is now busy trying to firm up her Christmas trip plans!)

I've had very good response time, but they just keep messing up my itinerary. One time they had someone else's Chef Mickey & CRT listed on mine and we're not even doing CRT. It's just rather bothersome to have to respond back to each email and having to correct them. I even made 90% of our ADR's!

I've stayed concierge 4 times but for the life of me I can't remember whether they (concierge staff) are able to take your luggage on your last day so that you don't have to go stand in line at the resort airline check-in desk. :confused3

I know that concierge can do the online check-in thing for us and print out our boarding passes (we usually do this the day before since our airline allows this up to 24 hours in advance), but I can't remember about the luggage! Thanks! :)

No, they can't. That's a TSA thing, not a Disney thing.

I was thinking about having some sort of gift basket and goodies for our upcoming trip. I see that the local gift basket companies can't have any food in their baskets. I believe the WDW florist still has food as an option. I was wondering if anyone has ordered a gift basket from out of state and had it delivered? I was thinking about doing a basket with Hawaiian treats? What about concierge can they get things from the gift shop?

I've ordered from the WDW florist before and will probably end up going that route since I like to have flowers in the room. I'm just not that thrilled with their selection of gift baskets.

Thanks!

Concierge will get you just about anything you want from the parks giftshops, all you have to to do is provide a Credit Card number and they will be more than happy to spend your money. :rotfl2:

All of my stays in CL I've never had them do anything like that. They never come across as "what can I do for you to make your stay more enjoyable". They're always nice and responsive, but I wish they would be more willing to suggest ideas on what they offer and what can be done during our visit.

I was thinking about having them get stuff from the gift shop at the Polynesian. Then I think to myself I can just bop in the gift shop and get gifts when I'm there?

Does the concierge desk cash traveler's checks, or would I have to go to the lobby concierge to do that? Thanks!

I am in the process of planning our Oct/Nov trip and asked the IPO to pick-up some goodies to have in the room when we arrive. They asked for my CC and a list of the items we wanted and they would have it ready for us. As far as suggestions, you are correct, you have to spell everything out for them.

Persistence and niceness helps, at first I got the blow-off kind of answer, but I persisted and got more specific while being "nice" and eventually got the answers and items we wanted. About 4 emails and a lot of sunshine. In about 2 weeks give or take 3 days we were set up with our plans.

I believe that's where my husband cashed his in the past. We took some along this trip, but didn't use a single one. We opted to use the resort charge to our Disney Visa to earn points! :)

I have to agree! They never seem forthcoming with ideas even when you ask for suggestions.

Anyone willing to share what CL has done for them? Above and beyond the standard ADR's and tour bookings??

Sam

I am from Hawaii and I can refer you to a couple of places that I've bought gift baskets from in the past. They do offer a range of Hawaiian treats and I'm pretty sure you can pick what you want in there of their list. I've had baskets shipped to family on the mainland before and it was no problem at all.
PM me if you're interested.

Hi

Could you post the info? i'm interested to.

THanks

I ordered Christmas Baskets last year from Pat's Island Delights, I was very pleased with the selection and how nicely arranged it was. I had one sent to the mainland and it arrived with no problems. They have goodies from the best places on the island and put it together in a gift basket collection. Pat's is my top choice, the offerings are more upscale and you will pay more but I think it's worth it.
The Island Munchies Basket is my favorite.

I buy a lot from Wholesale Unlimited, I have never had anything shipped out of state from them although I know it's offered. The snacks here tend to be very "local" in flavor, so go through the basket collection and make sure you know what you're getting. What they show in the Lauhala mainland basket isn't anything I would order, maybe you can ask to create your own. They have excellent cookies and homemade party mix type snacks here.

The Collectible Basket from Zippy's is very good. I would ask them to substitute cookies or something else for the t-shirt. It's a little goofy (not the cool Goofy ;) ) looking.

Let me know if you have any questions or suggestions on what to order.

I'm sorry I know this isn't quite the right place but I've tried in the codes and rates forum with no response.

Do you know IF discounts come out for room only reservations who are also FL residents, if they include club level rooms?

Thanks.

My parents have always cashed their traveler's checks at the lobby concierge, because I don't think the Cast Members on the Club Level floors don't have cash up there.

He did cash his traveler's checks at the concierge desk at the Polynesian. They obviously must have cash to handle cash transactions for guests. I know it's hard to believe, but some people actually pay in cash--too strange. ;) :confused3

Thank You:thumbsup2

When we stayed at the BC, we requested and the concierge staff bought a lanyard starter kit for DS and DD to have in the room on arrival day. They also wrote a little note with a pin from them--wishing them a great trip with fun pin trading.:goodvibes

Hello all! We are booked CL for the AKL in September. So far, the IPO has been very helpful (Yea Don!). I have asked them about doing some special things, and they have been agreeable to all. I have invitations (thanks Pat on the DISingns board) to the character meals printed off, and someone from CL will be delivering them to my nieces each day. Also, I am sending gift bags down with things the girls will need to start their vacation, like new cameras, film, lanyards, autograph books, lanyards, plush characters, etc. I stupidly bought some of the items thru the Laughing PLace store and paid way too much!:scared1: So, I asked the IPO/ CL people if they would buy some other stuff for the bags when they get them, they of course agreed! (Help you spend your money ma'am, no problem!:rotfl: ) I recently saw an AK Passport, like the Epcot Passports, which I already have, and want the girls to have those too. I also want each girl to have a small character plush left on the bed each night by turn-down service, and they were more than happy to arrange that as well. They have always gotten back to me with in 24 hours, but usually much quicker. I was able to get all of our ADRs, including CRT, right when I wanted them, despite having to reschedule the whole trip! I guess what I'm trying to say is, so far, my IPO/CL experience has been fantastic!!!  :cloud9: I can't wait to get there and actually see the place! IT"S OUR FIRST TRIP!:yay: :cool1:
