Ok, we booked YC...it may be against my better judgement, but DH really wants to give it a whirl. I have to let him have a say in where we stay. It's our anniversary trip. I'll let you know how it goes.

Until then, how are the evening offerings here? Any ideas what the typical appetizers are like? Desserts? Are there any nooks and crannies not to be missed here?

I really hope you enjoy your stay here. There is a beautiful "standard view" that is of the wedding gazebo on the lake side of the resort and believe it or not it is in the same category as the parking lot views. Request wedding gazebo view if not booking a lagoon view.

The evening offerings can vary but are pretty good since most of them come from either Yachtman's Steakhouse or Cape May. The clams and mussels that they've had in the evening are always a special treat. Everything from soups, sometimes clam chowder, to chicken appetizers. Flatbreads and hummus, cheese, vegetables, mac-n-cheese. A pretty good variety and it changes every day. Desserts seem to be a little simpler now than they use to be but I think most the lounges have done this. Smaller individual dessert items instead of the large cheesecakes and pies that they use to have. I believe Disney is trying to be more uniform from lounge to lounge now. Wine and beer in the evenings of course and cordials with dessert. If you don't see it and want it just ask. They usually are very accommodating.

The quiet pool area is also very nice and relaxing. Check that out while you're there.

Thank you for coming to my rescue. Man, I'm getting hungry now. We may to check out the quiet pool if to only say we took a dip in it. I'll e-mail them and request (pretty please with sugar on top of course) a view of the wedding gazebo. I think that was Elisabeth was describing to me in her post. I'm keeping an open mind. I always like to give each resort a chance and develop my own opinion of them. Just like the WL - people rave about it, but we had a less than stellar stay. I'll give them another go at it, just not right now. I have too many resorts to visit before circling back around. I do absolutely adore the Epcot area.

And by the way, Happy Anniversary!

Hello everyone! We are staying at AKL cl in June and are very excited. I have a quick question about preplanning. We only made our ressies about 4 days ago so it may be a while before we get our preplanner. Can I go ahead and e-mail them? I have some questions regarding some of my dining reservations (already made some of them at 180). Thanks!

Never mind. I think I answered my own question. Come on Tex, read the posts first! :sunny:

Hi,
I just booked my first CL anywhere at AKL for this August. I read that the CL folks won't have my info and I should contact them? Is this still true? I REALLY have NO clue about the CL, except that you can book the Sunrise Safarri - which is what I REALLY booked the CL for!

Do I book this through the CL people?

Is there a list of what kind of services they offer?

Color me excited but confused

The pre-planning folks won't have your info if you booked through a travel agent. I'm usually contacting them as soon as my reservation is in the system, simply because I can't wait to start planning my vacation. If you look at the first post on this thread, it will have the AKL e-mail address that you need.

Yes, you would go through the pre-planning department to book the safari's. They'll also handle all your ADR's, tours, fireworks cruises, entertainment, transportation, special purchases prior to your arrival, etc.

If you have any questions, ask away and enjoy your pampering.

Gee, thanks, YCFan!

Charlie - Like Tammi said, don't be shy to contact them first and introduce yourself. I'd give them the your arrival and departure date and full name that the reservation is under so they can locate it easier. Let's see - there's Don, Andrea, Juanita and Sue that's on the front line. You can end up with any of these fine folks. BTW, do book tell them your preference on safari. They hold it on Thurs. & Sun. from what I can remember. You'll need to give them your credit card to reserve it also so don't be surprised with this request. They can't book it until 90 days out, but put your special request in now. If you want to do a specialty cruise like Breathless or CRT, put that in now as well. You'll be surprised of what they can nab for you. ;) If you want in-room gifts, you can give them your credit card and they'll shop for you. Now you will need to have an idea of what you want. We did pin and lanyard sets and golden mickey ears the last time. They can help with a special in-room meal even. There's just so much they can help you with. I could go on and on. Have an awesome time planning and a terrific experience when you go. Let us know if you have any more questions!

Hi Texa,
We to are doing our first AKLCL stay even though we have had 3 stays at AKL prior to this. We arrive April 30th. I contacted the CL folks and heard back in about three days from Sue welcoming us home and then got a call from Don about two nights later making our reservations for the Sunrise Safari and introducing himself. We are so excited about staying at this level of service and have found them so far to be great. I had made several of my own dining requests prior to contacting them and had them change one of them for me with no problems and again got an updated plan of my stay from them. Can't wait to go only about 3 months and we are on our way :Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc :cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2:

I booked via Disney's own web site - so I would assume they have my info - in fact I had to call to make a change, so I know I'm in the system...

Hi all!

I called over to reservations with the intention of inquiring about the poly concierge for our trip in april....but with our need for 2 connecting rooms the cost was more than we had wanted to pay. So the sweetest CM brought up the idea of the garden suites at the Boardwalk...well I was intrigued and she really talked how wonderful it was that I just said ok go ahead and book it.

Now I am a bit nervous...I have never stayed concierge before and I don't know what to expect. I have read through a lot of these posts but I haven't found much on these particular suites. Is there anyone here that can give me an insiders report? Should I email them now? I don't want them to make an ressies for me...that is already done.

As for the suites where are they located? I know that the CM told me there were only 14 of them...what sort of views are there? Anyone in particular that I should put a request in for?

So please any info no matter how small or how obvious it is please post it again for me to read. Thanks so much.

Melissa;)

Welcome, Melissa! :wave2: The garden suites are so incredibly cute. I have a question, how many people are you proposing to put in one of these? The reason I ask is because they only sleep 4. They have a king bed and a fold out sofa. If you have a child under 3, he/she could sleep in a crib in the same room. They have garden views, do request to have one on the ground level or something to that effect. You'll have that exterior entrance with the garden walkway and the surroundings are so nice. Once you start describing it, they'll understand what you are talking about. I'd make a request through IPO when you do it. The down side to them is that you'll have to walk outside to get to the lounge. What's the quickest way to the lounge is what you're asking now? Unfortunately, I've not personally stayed in one so I don't know that answer. Sorry! However, I hear that the walk to the lounge is completely worth it and really not that daunting. Just some folks like to be two steps away from it. Here's a link to some pics of it, it's very cute. Just scroll through until you see BWI Garden Suites. There are many albums to check out here. ;) You'll have to put the last two words together to make it work. OK? You'll love it, I just know it. The IPO staff are terrific, the CM's at the resort are fabulous, the suite is pretty and the location can't be beat. :goodvibes

They are really cute and overlook the quiet pool. You have to walk into the hotel and take the elevator up to the 4th floor then walk down the hall to enter the Innkeepers Club, then down a little futher to the lounge.

Howdy,

I am planning my 40th birthday/10year anniversary/10th trip to WDW in December 2007. I know it seems far away, but for some reason 40 years old is coming on kinda fast! LOL :rotfl2: Anyhoo :rolleyes1 I have decided to give myself a wonderful gift. CL at either the YC or BC. I'm leaning to the BC, but I saw somewonderful pics of the YC and now I cannot decide. Hey, I've at least narrowed it down to these two :thumbsup2 . I have stayed CR, Poly, and WL, but never in this area. I'm just wondering do they serve the same food at both, or are they different? I know breakfast offerings, snack offerings are about the same everywhere. I was just wondering if its the same for the 5 - 7 offerings and the wine, cordials, and deserts? Any help would be appreciated. Cannot wait for the end of this summer to book, but that only means I'm that much closer to 40! :scared1: :lmao:

Y'all are great!!!! party:

Chris

Chris - I've not stayed at YC...yet. It's fast approaching. YC is more formal than BC. The lounges are small at both places and you'll have the same fabulous IPO staff to deal with. SAB - check! If you want more of a relaxed mood, go with BC. If your looking for a more upscale feel, go with YC. I don't know if the offerings would be the same, but I bet the breakfast, desserts, wines/cordials would. The difference in the two might be the evening appetizers. YC probably has a bit of an advantage here as once upon a time they had crab or some sort of seafood appetizer in their spread. I'm not sure if it rings true still, but again I'll find out in 18 days. :thumbsup2 I remember tomato bisque soup, wraps (turkey/veggies), cheese/fruit and crackers at BC. I thought BC's offerings were good. Oh, they did have glazed donuts for breakfast at BC. DS & DH were very happy and hyper boys.

VAGal, Thank you so much! Now I'm leaning toward the relaxing atmosphere. Okay, here's a solution. I want a room that is half BC and half YC, do they have that? :rotfl: Seriously though, they both sound wonderful. Okay, here's the question too....which one has the better view of Epcot? That will be a big deciding factor too. Food, Staff, (since everyone says both are fantastic, that is no problem! :woohoo: ) and view of Epcot, any help is greatly appreciated!!!

Thanks again.

Hmmmm, I think S/D or BWI may have the best view of Epcot. :smokin: I just have to throw you off don't I? :rotfl2: I wish I could mix the two, but I'm just not that good. Have you checked out the pics of both places? Try allearsnet.com and look at the many photos from different concierge levels around the world at *** edited to remove bad link *** . I think the rooms at BC & YC are both bright and airy, it's just the difference of hotel decor in the common areas. If you can live without SAB, I'd say you might prefer the BWI. The hotel staff are great...still same great IPO staff. Relaxed atmosphere. The lounge is a little larger. Plus, I personally know they have a terrific pool bar. ;) The water slide in the large pool @ BWI was fun especially after a rollercoaster or two. :p :thumbsup2 :teeth: My DM and I went for Mother's Day and had a blast there. We had a boardwalk view and to the right you can see Epcot in from the balcony, but not a full view like looking from CR/Poly/GF to MK. If you'd be interested in BWI, I suggest a deluxe concierge room so you can guarantee that boardwalk view. Try requesting the room right outside the concierge door. I believe it's over the bakery or there abouts. Yep, we had that one. I just can't remember the room #. Epcot is kind of behind BC/YC. I would imagine the view would be limited from there. S/D have balconies and I think you guarantee an Epcot view (might want to jump on S/D thread to confirm that). I had the Pres. suite @ BC and I had a lovely lagoon view. I was looking towards BWI from my balcony. People typically call the lagoon a preferred view at BC/YC. I'm sure you can peek at Epcot somewhere from BC/YC, but I'm just not sure where. Even I'm constantly learning. :teacher:

Thanks Tambi and the other poster with some comments on the garden suites...
Well we are a family of 5 but my youngest is 2 so technically she should be in a pack and play.....my only concern is that she is in a full size bed at home and hasn't seen a crib since 18 months old...what should I do if she won't sleep or fit in a pack and play? Any suggestions would be perfect...you could even pm me...We are really worried about this. My 2 other kids 5 and 4 will sleep on the couch...

So about how long of a walk is it from the suite to the Inkeepers lounge?
I am seriously considering just calling to see if there are any deluxe concierge rooms available..at least there there would be enough sleeping room if my littlest one needs a bed...plus I would be inside and not have to go outside to go to the lounge. I know the garden suites sound really nice I just want to be prepared for what would happen if my little one wants a bed and there isn't one.

Thanks again so much for your input.

The garden suites are cute, but if your 2 year old won't sleep in a pack-n-play, I'm not too sure. 3 kids in the bed and you and DH on the sleep sofa? The deluxe concierge rooms are closer to the lounge if that's important to you, they are cheaper than the suites (you can get AAA or AP discounts on them) and they sleep 6 - 2 queens, fold out sofa.
