Useful Concierge Information

Hey guys. I am hoping someone here can answer a question for me. I have tried using the Search function and I just can't seem to find what I am looking for. A while back there was a thread where someone asked about what kind of special things the BC concierge could purchase for you. One poster listed some neat treat buckets and other items that were available through the resort. The list supposedly came from allearsnet and I can't seem to find it anywhere. Anyone have any ideas? Thanks. I am looking for ideas for my three boys in December.

Thank you very much, Tammi. I also emailed IPO and they sent me an attachment with pics and descriptions. Now I just need to decide what I want to do :goodvibes

Mickey Fliers, Could you give us the attachment with pictures. I am sure many of us here would love to see it for future trips.

Thank you in advance. :flower:

For those of you who have done the AKL sunset safari......when you eat at Jiko after the safari, do you eat in the regular restaurant or are you in the private dining room? Thanks for the info!

Yes, I'd love to see this as well if you can upload it somehow.

We just got back. it is so much fun to share our trip. We stayed at The Polynesian for six night lagoon view room in Tahiti. Then we transfered over to AKL concierge for seven nights. It was a fantantic trip.

We did the sunset safari and the dinner is following the safari. My husband and myself have done the sunset safari twice. Both times we have been seated in the main dinning room. The first time we were told because they had a party going on in private dinning room. This last time there were only four of us on the safari so they gave us a table in the dinning room. It was a fantatic dinner. You are not rushed at all. The food was superb. I am working on a trip report now so there will be more information. But, I'll be happy to answer any questions.

When you were seated in the main dining room, did the chef still come out and explain the different dishes to you? We are planning on doing this on our next trip in July but our group will take up the entire safari so we will all be one family instead of different groups put together for the dinner. We are really looking forward to this.

POLY QUESTION!!
We are staying at the Poly conceirge in July 2006 and I have seen pictures posted of the chocolate poly postcard...................are these given to all guests or is it only for a special occasion or if you request them?
Thanks!

We didn't get one when we were there or anything else for that matter. We even had to ask for the leis later that day when we realized we didn't get those either. I've heard some people get lots of little extras which we always seem to get as YC, but we got nothing at the Poly. They even had sand buckets lined up against the wall which I saw them giving to other children but my 3 year old didn't get one. Guess we just had a bad check in experience. (By the way, we didn't get the ride over to Hawaii on the golf cart either. We were just pointed in the direction of the building.)

Hi YCFAN,
Yes, the chef came out with each course and explained everything including the sauces. We were also ask at the very beginning of our dinner if there were any allergies. When we booked the safari we were so ask if we had any food allergies. The guides were careful to warn us if there was any item being service at the sundowner that a guest could have an allergy to. The waiter also explained each wine he was serving with the couse.

Since you plan on reserving the whole safari for your family I would give a call now to IPO at AKL, just to give them a heads up. If I read you signiture correctly you are going during the summer next year. The Wanyama Safari's fill up quickly, they only take 8 people and Wanyama is only offered two evenings a week. I know they can not book you now for next year, but it certainly can't hurt to let them know what you are planning. You might even get at little pixie dust thrown you way since it is a family get together. :sunny:

Hey guys. I am very technologically challenged, but I am going to try and post the pics and descriptions. Actually, Tammi led us to the allearsnet descriptions. The pics are pretty cool and it is nice to see exactly what you get. If anyone knows how I can get this to all of you, please let me know. It is a large PDF file (2,244 kb). I would be happy to email it to anyone if they PM their email address. Maybe someone else more computer savvy can figure out how to post it to the site.

Help!

I wanted to thank everyone for their helpful responses to my many questions and I have one more to ask. We have changed our mind once again and have decided to split our stay between The Poly LVC and the Wilderness Lodge. Is it ok to ask the IPO to make a reservation for a night that we are staying at the Wilderness Lodge or should I only use their services for the 4 nights we are staying LVC? I am not sure what is allowed and do not want to appear to be demanding (even though I am :) ). Thanks in advance for your answers.

Fairy Godmother, I don't think there's any set in stone policy about your request. My guess is that they won't have any problem assisting you with the non-concierge portion of your trip.

Tammi
Thanks for your quick response. It will make my life so much easier if I can use them for part of my Wilderness Lodge stay but I didn't want to ask for things they can't do.

Fairy Godmother - IPO at the Poly shouldn't have any trouble making your arrangements for your entire trip. I did a split concierge stay last year between YC and WL. IPO at YC did our itinerary for our entire trip b/c WL never even contacted us. HTH

Again, if anyone wants a copy of the Yacht/Beach Club Private Dining Amenenites including pics, please PM me your email address and I would be happy to send it out.

I believe everyone is supposed to get one. We didn't get one this trip but I saw a CM with a cart full of them at the room next to us.

I think what may happen sometimes is that the cards are made out with the room number and guest A's name. Then B checks in ahead of A and ends up getting A's room. Later when the postcards are delivered, B gets A's postcard too.

One time we had two rooms booked and had requested connecting rooms because of our kids' disabilities. The rooms assigned to us were not connecting. The CM at the desk worked on it and was able to get us connecting rooms. Later that night, there was a postcard with someone else's name on it in our room. I took it to the desk.

This trip, Phil first told us we were in 1505 but then corrected himself and said it was now 1503. I'm not positive that we were bumped but I wouldn't be surprised if whomever was in 1505 enjoyed a chocolate postcard with our name on it. :confused3

Hi Everyone! I was just looking at some updated pictures of WLC on AllEars. Now we are not heavy drinkers but do enjoy a glass of wine, cold beer, or some other adult beverage at night while on vacation. Ok, we are on vacation so we would probably have 2 LOL! :rotfl: What I noticed was that they had 4 different liquors out but no wine or beer? When we first booked our trip (long ago) I could have sworn they had beer and wine in the concierge lounge at night?? Do they change options each night or are the 4 shown all there is? Also, if something is gone (say a soup) do they refill it for others to enjoy or is it a "when it is gone it is gone" type thing. 6 days left until I see for myself!!!! :Pinkbounc :cheer2:

Is it possible to actually burst from excitment?

Lisa

We stayed at WL concierge last November and they did offer both beer and wine. I want to say that you had to ask for the beer, but the wine was out on the table. I do remember them refilling empty food containers. I hope you have a great time. :sunny:
