In a little over 3 weeks we are going to WL concierge!! :cheer2:  Today I emailed WL at the web address listed in the beginning of this thread. I was asking for help getting a few meals set up. I already had some ADR but needed a few more. I emailed about 9:30 this morning. It is now 10:45pm and I have not heard back at all. Does it usually take a long time to get a response to an email? Also, we booked our trip through a AAA TA. Can the concierge staff still help me book ADR's or does my TA need to do that? :scratchin

Thanks!!

It all depends on how many e-mails they had to go through since the close of business the day before. If it was an urgent request, I would call, otherwise give them at least a few hours. If you haven't heard anything yet, it's probably because you're all set. To confirm that though, I would send another e-mail asking for an updated itinerary. That will list out all the ADR's and any other tours or ticket requests that you've made.

Hi to all! We will be satying poly LVC in jan. 5 nites prior to our cruise. My 90 day mark is 10/9. ? What is the 90+10? I just sent an email to the poly conceirge group introducing myself. We already have reserv. for the luau;but when can I request the other ADR's-like CRT? Thanks for the help! Angel

I have another question. We are staying WLC in 2.5 weeks. Does anyone have any pictures of the inside of the rooms on the 7th floor? Also, any pictures of the new concierge lounge?? You are all a huge help!!

Thanks!
Lisa

SeaSpray had some pictures of the new WL Concierge from her last trip. Search the Resorts board or PM her.

We are staying at BCV for 8 nights in Dec, but to begin the trip we have one night booked at AKL concierge - our first stay at AKL and our first time doing concierge! I just received confirmation for that night and I'd like to e-mail the staff, introduce myself, and request that they have something "special" waiting in the room for our arrival that evening.

Does anyone have any ideas what I should request? :confused3

I'll have my partner and my two teens with me and we all love sweets, so something edible and festive would be nice.

What do you all recommend?

(And for such niceties do you all e-mail your credit card info to concierge or do you call and leave it?)

:sunny: :sunny: :sunny:

You will love the service, I'm sure. This is our first time at AKL, and concierge. I called to intruduce myself, and left my CC on file for the ADR's. This alone was worth the price of admission. The IPO will make all of you ressies for you. I have been using email since, but I feel as tho we have known each other forever. wdw.aklodge.concierge@disney...
E-mail Address(es):
wdw.aklodge.concierge@disney.com
AKL IPO at (407) 938-4755. I usually try after 4:30PM Florida time.

Enjoy your stay!

I saw a picture of a cake that Hockeymom had done for her DD. It was frosted in what looked like a zerbra pattern, very AKL. You probably want to deal with the private dining staff directly for this one. They'll be able to give you some idea's without having to go through a middleman so to speak. The concierge staff will assist you with any non-food gifts that you'd like to have in the room when you arrive. Call them with your credit card number though, as e-mail is not secure.

I guess concierge must be busy this weather - I emailed them over a week ago with some ADRs and a couple of requests for cake / gifts for my upcoming trip (6 weeks). Still no response - Ive now emailed Barbara (who originally booked our ADRs etc) asking if there is a problem. :-(

Me again. LOL! I was wondering if WL lets guests book a "non-concierge" room but pay to have concierge access? I noticed that someone had a room in the 6's but had concierge access. How do you do that? Do you pay for a standard room and then have a fee added to add concierge? I did not know that that was an option. I should have read the boards before I booked my trip. :Pinkbounc :badpc: :)

i've experienced the same thing with the Wilderness lodge IPO...long waits after emailing them with requests. yes, sometimes a week after my email do i hear back from them. I don't remember ever having to wait that long when we stayed at the poly last april. i have heard how wonderful jeffrey is at the ipo from other dis'ers on the resort board and that the long wait must be due to being very busy.

This is not a normal practice with concierge. In some cases, deluxe rooms or suites are located on a different floor, but have concierge access. My guess is that someone staying in a standard room with concierge privelages, was granted that because of extenuating circumstances.

Thank you Nancy and Tammi for your replies. On second thought, I'm not so sure about the sweets because we'll arrive in the evening and the concierge lounge will be open with desserts so I probably shouldn't dilute the impact of that.

Do "you all" have any advice for non-food items that might be fun for two teens to find - one boy, on girl? I don't know why I'm hitting a brick wall on this. I'm being totally noncreative and I'd love to hear what others have done.

I have a teen boy and a teen girl. Whenever we're at Disney, they love the pins. I've purchased them lanyards each time we go and they fill them up during the trip. When we get home, they hang and display them in their room. My oldest DD loves Stitch, so I've had a big stuffed one waiting in the room for her. Disney Dollars never go to waste either.

Experts

Are there any standard GF RPC rooms that overlook anything or are next to anything that one would rather not have a "view" of?

We stayed GVC at the Polynesian a few years ago and had a 2nd floor room (no balcony or patio), first room on the right, next to the lounge. While it was close to the lounge (and very easy to grab another adult beverage!) our "view" was of the stairway on the end of another building and a service area.

Any situations like this at GR RPC?

Thanks!

Garada,

We've stayed in a few RPC rooms and have never had an undesirable view. There are 3 different wings of the resort, with one facing the lagoon/beach, one facing the inner courtyard garden and one facing the MK. With the garden view, you will see other buildings as they're around the courtyard. With the lagoon, you do overlook the walkway to the theme pool and with the MK, the marina walkway is right below you. I don't think that any of those take away from your view though. With the exception of a couple of turret suites, all the rooms in the main building do have a balcony.

A bigger concern actually might be getting a room close to the lounge. You can get a lot of hallway traffic and the kids sitting area is right there. It can be a little exciting in the morning.

Tammi- those are terrific ideas. Everyone in my family collects pins. My daughter loves the princesses, my son the villians, and I am always on the watch for all of the 100 Acre Wood characters - especially piglet!

Perhaps I'll request a princess figure and a villian, complete with lanyards and a few pins.

Viki, that's too funny, my youngest loves the princesses and my son loves the villians. You might want to consider the guest of honor badges too. They're kind of corny, but for some reason the kids don't mind being corny at Disney. Anyway, one of the new designs is Disney Villians. I bought the male version for my son and he loves it. I was even able to get my DD a princess name badge, but they come from Disney Land, not Disney World. If you want to check them out here, you can see all the designs available. They even have Pooh & friends for you and maybe a character that your partner likes. The Christmas store in Downtown Disney carries them, so IPO should be able to take care of it if you decide to order them as well. For the Princess badge, you can order directly from the Laughing Place Store website. It will cost you a little bit more, but I've been very happy with the purchases I've made with them.

I made preliminary plans to stay at th Akl for september 9-16 with the mym platinum plan. I emailed the Ipo staff tonight just to introduce myself. Was it to early to do this or ok? Just gave my address and telephone number ,days i will be there and thats its my 1st time there.

LOL did 2 emails as i goofed on my own telephone number. :rotfl2:

DisneyTraveler, 10 months notice is a little soon, but it's exciting when it's your first time there. I could be wrong, but I think with the Platinum Plan, you are assigned to one specific pre-planner who specializes in it. They would be able to go over all the benefits and you can work them into your vacation. That will keep you busy for a little while anyway :flower: .
