We're going on a WDW Girls Trip from 10/23-10/30. We booked the FTP at POR for 7 nights, but decided to fly in a day early and stay off-site so we could enjoy the ENTIRE first day. I got on Priceline and bid $30 for a 3-star hotel for 10/22 in the Disney area... it came back and said if I raised my offer to 38, it would be able to find a room. We talked about it, I increased the bid, and we're staying at the Hyatt Orlando. I have never stayed off site when heading to WDW and I was very nervous, but wanted to stay somewhere 'safe' - even if we are checking in after midnight and leaving before 6am... I see that I might have waited a little longer to get a closer hotel room, but do you think I got an ok price or could I have done a little better? I'm ok with what I got this time, but pointers for the next time would be appreciated!!! Thanks for all of the help - I would never have risked Priceline without you guys!!!!

...I have checked out www.biddingfortravel.com which has great info on Priceline bidding. From your post, I take it you ended up bidding $38 and got the Hyatt? I think you did okay, though from what I've read on BFT, if Priceline recommends you raise a bid by a certain amount, you can undercut and bid less using the free rebid strategy...a bit complicated, but it seems to work and bids are often accepted for less that the recommended amount.

Anyway, definitely check out the BFT website if you haven't already. I plan to bid sometime on Priceline and find the info there invaluable! Have a great trip!!

I think you did fairly well. We have gotten the Hyatt Orlando for a bid of $35 of several occasions (always for 1 night stays). For our upcoming trip, however, we found it necessary to bid $38 so perhaps they have raised the amount for bids they will accept.

They Hyatt Orlando is very nice. The rooms are fairly basic hotel rooms but the place is very clean. The rooms are arranged in four buildings that are 2-story and figure-8 shaped. Inside each "8" there is a pool for that building and a hot tub. The lobby is very nice and we have had their buffet breakfast, which was very good.

Have a great time.

if you want a tub...ask for it....or else you'll get the shower only room with a priceline bid....happened to us last year & to a few others....it's fine with me, but if you're counting on a soak, you won't get it. otherwise, great price....we paid $42 last year.
