Hope someone can help. My use year is August, if I need to book a trip before than, either for June or July, would I be borrowing points? Could I borrow 2011 points or would 2010 points be considered borrowed points since I am travelling before August?

It depends on what you currently have available. Right now, you are still in your August 2009 UY (which runs from August 1, 2009 - July 31st, 2010).

If you still have 2009 points left, then you would not have to borrow. However, if you are all out of 2009 points, then yes, you would be borrowing 2010 points as those don't become "current UY" points until August 1st.

You can not use 2011 points either since those are not available for borrowing until you start your 2010 UY, August 1st.
Hope this helps.

if you are out of points in your current use year (2009) , then yes, you would have to borrow. be aware that points borrowed from your august 2010 use year cannot be put back.

pts from your august 2011 use year - if borrowed - would be useable for stays from aug 1, 2010 through july 31, 2011.

a stay in june or july 2010 would be during your 2009 use year, so you could use banked 2008, current 2009 or borrowed 2010 for that stay.

Thanks for the replies, I actually have AKV booked and have lots of points leftover for the 2009 use year. But my mom would like to stay at GF, but you can't book the Disney collection the last 4 months of your use year right? I was hoping to just switch resorts, but when I was looking at GF points in my book, I didn`t realize there was a 4 month rule. So than I thought I could just use 2010 points for the stay.

It is too late to bank your 2009 uy points, if you don;t use them by July 31, they will expire. How much point left over are you talking about? You are right you can't book Disney collection the last 4 months, you can use the points for Disney collection the last 4 months, you just have to book it before 4 months. Dose your mom HAVE to stay at GF this time?? can't she wait to stay there next year? i just don't want you to waste your 2009 points. :)

So you have current 2009 points available and have not banked them? If that's the case they will be expiring July 31st. If you don't have another need for them and your mother won't stay at a DVC property I would try and rent those points out and book the GF with cash for your mother.

yes i actually forgot to bank them, just wasn`t thinking properly. I was thinking I would keep the points for a bit longer, since I thought I would just add some days here or there, or if I changed plans I would need more points for a different resort, and than I just forgot and it was too late to bank them. I have rented before, but not sure if I am going to rent it again since there is so few months left before the points expires.

I would try to reserve at a DVC resort for your mom. You could also ask MS if they would still allow you to bank those 2009 points - they will sometimes allow a once-in-a-lifetime-double-secret-exemption to the banking deadlines - but you didn't read that here. :)

I would try to reserve at a DVC resort for your mom or try to rent the 2009 points since you are within the last 4 months and cannot make a non-DVC reservation now for dates thru the end of your Use Year.
