If we close in December 2009 with April 2010 use year, can we book in January for the 11 month window for a December trip? The April points aren't kicked in yet...
Use Year has nothing to do with when you can book. You may always book at your Home Resort as early as 11 months before the check-in date you'd like. So yes you absolutely can book in January 2010 for a trip at your Home Resort in December 2010. MS will utilize the points from your April 2010 Use Year for this reservation because the dates of the reservation fall within April 2010 UY which covers stays from 4/1/2010 - 3/31/2011.
Also, what's the best use year to purchase if we like to go in November every year? I was told October because of cancellation reasons? Not sure I understand this. Thanks!
Ideally, you'd want to pick a UY where you would not travel during the last 4 months of that Use Year.
Since there isn't November Use Year, October would be a good choice if you plan to travel in November each year. Your banking deadline would be May 31 so if you had to cancel your November trip (at least 31 days before the check-in date) you would have until May 31 to bank the CURRENT Use Year points used in the reservation into the upcoming Use Year; just note that any banked &/or borrowed points used in your reservation would not be rebankable & would not be able to be 'put back' into the UY they initially came from in the case of the borrowed points and therefore, those banked or borrowed points would need to be re-used during the UY during which the reservation falls in so the latest date to re-use those points would be by Sept. 30[/U]
