I have a February use year. I borrowed 5 points from the February 2007 year for the vacation this year.

When I logged into my account, it says:

Currently, you may request a reservation at your Home Resort for vacations that have a check-out date before October 21, 2007.

• Currently, you may request a reservation at any Disney Vacation Club Resort for vacations that have a check-out date before June 21, 2007.

• This Use Year's remaining Vacation Points for you will expire on the last business day of January 2007.

I'm a little lost with this. I thought since my use year was February through February, I could book a vacation at any time from February 2007 through January 2008. Am I wrong about that? What am I missing?

Use Year has nothing to do with when you can make a reservation - it only governs when you will recieve your points and the timeline when those points may be used.

The website is reporting the 11 month priority dates for your Home resort based on today's date as well as the 7 month reservation window for all other DVC resorts. You may make reservations based on the points that will be available in your account at the time you wish to travel - thus you can use the points you will get on February 1 for travel thru October 21 as of today (and tomrrow the information will indicate thru October 22, 2007).

Your Use Year will also determine your banking deadlines and percentages.

These are some of the most misunderstood components of the DVC system and it is important to have an understanding of them for best use of your ownership.

Please continue to ask questions! :)

I think I am understanding but I want to make sure:

The deal is I can book another vacation starting February 1, 2007 through October 21, and each day that goes by it will then be October 22, 23, 24, etc. Is that right? In other words, if I want to book for November of next year, I will be able to do it as soon as we get closer in time to November 2007, right?

You can book anytime up to 11-months ahead (for a home resort)

Availability aside, you could call tomorrow to book a room next week. MS would need to have 2006 points for that reservation. If all your 2006 points were gone, you could borrow 2007 points.

You could also call tomorrow to book a January, February, March....October vacation. Any vacation in January would require 2006 points, same as above. Any vacation in February or beyond would require 2007 points. Those are points you will receive 2/1/2007. You can call today and use those points for a reservation, even thought you haven't received them yet.

So if you wanted to book in November next year, you could do so this December. Say you want a vacation for Nov 10th, checking out Nov 15th of next year. You could call this December 15th to make that reservation. Dec 15th is 11 months to a Nov 15, 2007 check-out date. That vacation could use any of the following points: Regular use year 2007 points, Banked 2006 points, or borrowed 2008 points.

And yes, you've got that right. You could call Dec 15, 2006 and make a reservation with a Nov 15th, 2007 check-out date, and even use your 2008 use year points.

Hope this helps.

Thanks! Now, I understand. :teeth:
