Being DVCers for the first time, I'm not quite sure how the Use Year works. Ours is February. Say we want to make ressies in August of 05, when do we start planning? Am I too late?

You can start making ressies 11 months in advance, so for instance if your vacation is for August 1 - August 8, you can call September 8th to make your ressies. Use year has nothing to do about when you can call, just when you get your annual allocation of points. So, starting in 2005, you'll get your annual allocation of points on Feb 1st. Those points must be used between Feb 1, 2005 and January 31, 2006, unless banked.

Oh, BTW, I have noticed people saying the more popular DVC stays were different than WDW stays. How can I find out when times are more popular for DVC members, or is it in the point chart?

December is very popular, with the first week of December being the most popular. Low points, holiday decorations and the annual meeting of the condo associations. October and this year into early November is also a very popular time because of the food and wine festival at EPCOT.

There may be others that I'm not thinking of as well.

Thanks HBC! As you can see, I love cats too! Wish I could take them with me when we go! I miss my "orange bird" his name is Tiger, when I am away. He usually sleeps with me at night and I feel something is missing when I am not at home!

Figment 56 .. your UY has nothing to do with when you can make your reservations. You receive your yearly point allotment on your UY month, i.e. Feb 1st in your case, but your 11/7 mos reservation window is based on your check-out date.
Just remember, MS will accept your ressie as long as you have enough points at the time of your check-in to cover your reservation.

Your February 2004 points are good for stays through January 31, 2005. If you are not taking any trips, you'll want to bank these points into February 2005.

February 2005 you'll get points good through January 31, 2006.

You can call to book your home resort 11 months from your check-out date. (If that day is weekend or holiday, you have to wait for the following day that MS is open). All other DVC resorts can be booked 7 months from check-out date.

For an August 2005 trip your first shot at a reservation will be next month.
