Use Year/11 Month Window Question

We have a February Use Year. Do I have to wait until my points are available in Feb. to make reservations using them? We would like to plan a stay next December--knowing how busy that is for DVC now, I'd like to book at 11 months, but we won't get our 2006 points until Feb. Hopefully I'm making sense, and someone will have an answer! Thanks!!!

You may use the 11 month priority to reserve as long as you will have points at the time the reservation will start.

In January, 2006, you will be able to make reservations for December, 2006 using your February, 2006 Use Year points. It can be confusing, but just remember that your 06 UY points may be used for a reservation between 2/01/06 and 1/31/07 and may be made at 11 months. You could also borrow from your February, 2007 Use Year for that same reservation.

I'm wondering whether someone can help with this question. I have a February use year and also would like to travel in December 2006. Should I use my points from 2006 or should I use the 2007 points.

I think my concern would be if by any unfortunate chance that we had to cancel our reservation in December, would we have to book another vacation by January 31, 2007?

use the 06 points because If I'm correct once you bank (07 points) you can't unbank them .so you would have to use them anyhow.

As long as you would cancel the December reservation within your banking window, the '06 points could still be used between 2/01/07 and 1/31/08. If you borrow points from Feb, 2007 and later cancel- they would have to be used by January 31, 2007 since they could not be banked or returned to their original Use Year.

I'd use the Feb06 points for any reservations made during that Use Year and only borrow if you are pretty certain you won't later cancel.

That is the one situation where Use Year does make a difference. With a February Use Year, any reservations made for a December trip will put your points in jeopardy if the reservation is cancelled after your banking opportunities have passed since any points returned to your account will need to be used before the end of January.

Thanks so much. I knew you would have the answer. We'll use the 2006 points, and while we're at it, how difficult is it to get the December dates for BCV? We were looking at first week of December 2006. Should I wait to book the entire week, or should I do day by day in early January 2006? Never tried December before.
