Will I have any trouble using DH's Disney Visa Rewards card while in Disneyland? It doesn't have a name on it and he hasn't signed in yet so it seems like it would be fine but just wanted to make sure since he won't be with us on this trip.

I'd see if you could get set up as an authorized user. http://disneyrewards.disney.go.com/authorizeduser.html If there's no name on the card, they might just let you use the card you have instead of waiting for a second card.

I personally wouldn't go around with an unsigned card, and certainly not one without a name or signature! But I know a lot of people have cards with no signatures.

If you mean the actual redemption card? Or the credit card itself?

IF the former, I never even signed mine at all. Just worked like a giftcard for me.

If you mean the one that you called (or did it online) and had them put your reward dollars on....it's considered a gift card and anyone in possession of it can use it. I've had them put small amounts on a card and given it to my kids as gifts.

Thanks everyone! Yes, this is the reward redemption card that you order online from the Visa rewards site....not the Visa card (he has definitely signed that card! :) ).

One more question, last time we tried using a rewards card at the Surf's Up breakfast (plus gave them cash for the difference we would still owe) and they brought it back to us saying we couldn't use it because we didn't have enough $ on it to cover the whole group's breakfast. They said they tried running it several different times but they didn't have any way to swipe it for a portion of the bill -- yet we were able to use it just fine at the stores. Has anyone run into any issues using theirs at the restaurants? Hoping to use it for our princess lunch and WOC dinner this trip!

The redemption card is in DH's name and I've never had any problems using it.

Oops, sorry--I had no idea there were specific redemption/credits cards. :flower3: I'd never heard of a credit card with no name on it!

(But I have seen multiple people use, or try to use, a credit card without a signature. They claimed it was because they wanted the cashier to check the ID. I don't quite understand that logic, but maybe there's something to it that I just don't understand! One cashier insisted the user sign the card. :confused3 )

Credit Cards, unsigned are not valid. In most cases if the merchant asks for an ID it is against the merchant agreement and they still have to honor the transaction if you refuse to show an ID.

If you don't sign your credit card, and loose it, it would let a dishonest person have the ability to sign it and use it with no problem. Because the merchant can only compare the signature(which would be that of the thief) on the card to the one on their reciept, which the crook is also signing. As I noted above this is the usual case.

In most cases this would be why the cashier could and should demand that the card be signed, but not ask the it be signed at the spot but have already been signed. Of course your typical cashier would not want to bother a customer with this, nor could they spot a fake ID.

How long ago was this? Several years ago I remember having problems like this with the rewards card. We had to know the exact amount remaining on the card and tell the cashier before he/she swiped it because he/she had to enter it as a partial payment if less remained on the card than the total of the transaction. This is no longer true. I verified this when I was there last week. Just give them the rewards card with whatever balance is on it, and their systems can read it now, deduct the amount from the total, and so on. We had no difficulties using our card at any of the counter service places or stores we went to last week.

Sounds like you had a CM who needed a little more training! Next time escalate it to a manager who should be able to handle the transaction. We've actually used it at a table service when there was only a couple dollars left on it towards a bill that was over $100.....didn't want to waste those last few dollars, lol. I don't know Disney's exact procedures, but I know that when I use gift cards at Sam's Club they typically scan it first to see the balance and then plug that amount in....sounds like your CM didn't know the balance and so couldn't tell it how much to use.

And in case someone is curious....our Sam's club doesn't take VISA (only Mastercard or AE)....so I buy gift cards with the Disney VISA at Walmart to use at Sams Club....so I technically am earning Disney rewards at Sam's Club! I know some Sam's in different areas accept VISA, but none here in Arizona do, so this is my work around to get points on the hundreds of dollars I spend at Sams! It all adds up!

It was a couple years ago, so it's good to know they've fixed that problem! We did tell her exactly how much was left on the card at the time but they still couldn't figure out how to make it work. Anyhow, it sounds like that won't be an issue this time. Thank you all!! :-)
