For a three night trip it would cost DH and myself an extra $209.94 total to add the dining plan on. We already have a DDE card. We would eat at least one counter service and sit down meal per day regardless. Maybe even an ice cream, too. Now - would we eat the appetizers, desserts, etc.? That I don't know.

Which do you think would be the better option for us? Thanks!

I think for a quick trip, where you already have the DDE card, I would stick w/that. Don't think I'd want to add-on another $210. JMO. :)

we used the dining plan last trip and I am sold on it. I loved not having to worry about money or room charges or anything like that. we saved way more with the dining than we would have with dde though we still used dde for alcohol and such. we never paid money for anything to eat on that trip, just maybe an extra water or two each day.

I think you have to analyze how much food you plan on eating and does that overcome the 20% discount. Will you eat 3 meals a day plus snacks?? Will you eat at high end places that you normally wouldn't. Get the menus off allears.net and do a quick and dirty cost comparision. Good luck with your decision and let us know what you decide.

We dropped the dining plan and bought the DDE card. We are not big eaters and usually had lunch and breakfast in the room, so for us, we saved money doing it that way. For us, the dining plan just seemed like too much food and I didn't want to have to worry about using our credits every day.

I feel the same about the Dining Plan. BOth DH and I tend to gain weight easily, with the dining plan I could easily see us packing on 5-10 pounds! :rotfl: We generally (family of 4) skip breakfast or eat something quick, then try to TS lunch and dinner with the DDE card. This upcoming trip I only have one TS lunch booked, guess we'll eat CS the other two days. We actually paid for the DDE card on our first trip this year, it's a wonderful "gift" for AP'ers!
