We own 160 points at SSR. If we added a small 50 point contract at AKL, we could only book 11 months out at AKL with those 50 points. We would have to wait until 7 months out to add any more nights. Is that correct?

DH and I were talking about adding a small contract but he thought we could combine our points from AKL and SSR to book 11 months out. That's not how I understand it though. I understand it as I stated it above...can anyone who owns multiple contracts confirm who is correct? Thanks!!!!

You couldn't combine the points from the 2 resorts until the 7 month mark. However, you could bank and borrow those 50 AKV points one year to have three years worth of points (150) for a longer stay.

One cannot combine points from different home resorts to use within the 11 - 8 month window. They can be combined starting at the 7 month window.

If that could be done, then people would just buy a ton of points at a place with low dues and a few points at the place they wanted to stay. It would cut out people who purchased at that resort.

Ok - so my understanding of it was correct and DH was just being hopeful. ;)

If you want to book a resort 11 months to 7 months plus one day prior to check in, you need to have points from that resort to do so. It's not enough to be an owner there, you have to have enough points from that resort to cover the reservation. In fact, you don't even have to be an owner there. You could own OKW but have BCV points transferred into your account and use them to book BCV 11 months out. So the 11-month window isn't really a "Home Resort' window so much as a "Home Resort Points" window.
