Are you allowed to take your own inflatables into Storm Along Bay? I heard you could hire some but this would work out quite expensive over the two weeks we will be staying in the BCV.

Not sure about tubes for the lazy river, but we did bring floats for our DD and noone said anything.

I might suggest calling the resort and seeing what the official policy is.h

We always use my son's own life vest and no ones fusses. We also take in toys (gators and sharks, dinos) and no one complains. You are right to try to bring your own stuff -- those tubes rent for $10 a day, which I think is highway robbery. Get a $1 tube at Walmart and TRY IT!

I just stayed at BEACH CLUB for one week

storm along bay was wonderful

you can bring your inflatables or you can rent their inflatables

one warning
the lazy river, has a bottom of 8 feet.

THe only time in my life, to go a hotel pool, that was that deep

LOL! Never been on a lazy river that was much higher than my knees. First time I went, I stepped off the side and went straight under. Thank goodness I got in before my boys did. I would have never gotten them back in the pool had they gone under. They thought it was pretty funny though!!

Wow - I didn't realize it was that deep. Thanks for the heads up :p We will be there in 4 weeks, glad to know I can bring my DD's swimmies and our own tubes!

My son is a lifeguard at SAB. I have asked him this question as I have seen it asked many times before here. You can bring your own pool noodles, etc., smaller things. They discourage large inflatables, those huge rafts, etc. Hope this helps.

What a neat job! Does he love it? Do you get any perks being the parents of this lucky kid?

Thanks for the info.

Well, considering I am a Disney Store Cast Member, my "monetary" perks are better than the lucky College Program kid's are. :) My son has been down there on the job since the middle of June. So far he has participated in the save of one 3-year-old boy. My biggest perk is the pride that I felt when I learned of the situation and that his excellent training kicked in immediately. He is enjoying the College Program, it is a wonderful opportunity for anyone that can take a semester off from college. Disney also looks very good on the resume'. Disney works these kids hard, and they grow up a lot in the short time they are there.

There are those of us that are thinking of asking Disney if they might institute a Baby Boomer program of sorts so that we can go work and play for a few months. Wouldn't that be special?

The most fun I have is when son calls and says he is at Fantasmic or watching fireworks or getting to ride Mission Space for the first time. I am so excited for him to have this opportunity. (I am also very, very jealous).

No wait, one big perk, I have husband convinced we must go to WDW about every 4-6 weeks to check on son, since this is the first time he has been so far away from home. So far it has worked. Went in June and July and will be going later in August. I get to see my son and be at WDW at the same time, that is just about the cat's pajamas for me.

Next time you are there at SAB, notice the great job these young kids do. They stay totally focused.

This was probably more than you ever wanted to know. That will teach you to ask a proud Mom what she thinks. :)

Yes, they most certainly do a wonderful job. We were commenting on this when we were at SAB over Memorial Day.
You have every right to be a proud parent!!!:)

I agree also... the guards all over Disney are SO nice. I always watch my children closely at any pool, but at Disney I relax a bit at the same time, because I know the guards give their all. They impress me most at SAB, because the pools are all connecting and so different -- deep and shallow right next to each other, and there are always little ones tumbling in and needing help.

I keep telling my hubby I am going to go back to college just so I can work at Disney... He reminds me that I already graduated... Will they care?

Am I right in understanding that if my family of 4 wants to use disney's tubes for the lazy river it will cost me $40??? We are going in december and plan to swim, but doubt it will be for and entire day at a time. Guess I'd better buy some floaties to bring. Anyone have ideas how I can inflate tubes I bring with me besides by making myself dizzy blowing them up myself????

By the end of the day (maybe 4-5pm) there are often tubes left laying around. People often leave them instead of returning them ( I guess after shellign out the $10 for the day) and you can use those. Otherwise, yes, bring your own.

We have a small kit in our van that does flat tire repair. My Dad bought it for DH one Xmas. It comes with a few pins and can inflate rafts and tubes. The whole setup is like a tiny suitcase, plastic with a handle. This might work for you guys. I guess you get them at the aauto parts store, or maybe the auto section of Walmart or Target.

Have fun!

We stayed at BVC in July and brought a large tube. They not only let us use it, but they inflated it for us!

Thanks for the info disneymom99 and colleen! I will definately come prepared for SAB on our next trip. We are staying there for the first time just so we can use SAB.

you have every right to be proud! Lifeguards at Disney are wonderful, and we have two little fishes who don't understand the meaning of the water is deep! Despite life jackets, little oines can move faster than my eyes can...and I'm so grateful for the backup pairs!:D
Bought 2 little rafts and tubes today! Thanks for the thread!

Swimmies, the inflatables that go around each upper arm, are not allowed on the large slide. Three year old DD found out the hard way. :(
