Use of buses

Am I correct in understanding that the buses are only for the use of people who are staying on Disney property? Karen

The buses are for any "guest" at Disney. That even mean those who have day park tickets but want to go visit a resort. Disney figures if they make it easy enough to get to the hotel from the parks you may just spend even more of your money at the hotel.

If you notice I said the busses from the resorts to the parks. That means you can not park you car at a resort and take the busses to the parks if you are not a resort guest.

I intrepreted your post the same way the previous poster did. No - you can not park at a resort and take a bus to the parks, however, on site or off, you can take a bus from a park to a resort and back again. Buses are for pretty much everyone's use

There are buses from the Ticket and Transportation Center to any place you need to go, so I would assume that you can just hop on a bus and go. I've never had to show resort ID to get on one. I've never had to show resort ID for any of the transportation ferries, monorail, etc.

But it is true that you can't park at a resort and go on a bus. You have to stay at the resort to park there. I know going into the All-Star Resort section they do check ID, so I think it's the same at all the resorts. Some will even check to see if you have a dining reservation if that's what you're parking at the resort for.

During peak times they may limit the resort monrails and ferries to guests of those resorts and will check ID. They may do the same with busses at times, I'm not sure.

All of the resorts have a guard and will check ID. If you aren't a guest of a particular resort they will normally give you a 3 hour pass and let you through. This is so people can explore the different resorts and hopefully will want to stay there in the future. Some of the resorts, primarily the ones right by a park, are strict on the 3 hour limit and will tow cars there longer than that. This is due to people parking at the resort and visiting a park. I understand the Contemporary, for instance, is real strict because of how close to the MK it is. When visiting resorts and driving just show either your resort ID (if staying on property) or your personal ID to the guard and tell them why you're there (just visiting is a fine reason) and they'll let you through with minimal fuss.

additionally, no buses from DTD go to any of the parks and vice versa, they ONLY go to resorts, so no parking at DTD for free and then taking a bus to a Park.

Found this out when we finished up at Epcot early and wanted to run to DTD for a meal at the Pub. had to run to TTC first.
