use Gift cards for payment?

Has anyone here used a disney gc to pay for an upfront res, like a special dining thing? I am considering doing this... but unsure of what happens if I cancel package...would the funds go back to my original gc used?

Disney always refunds to the original form of payment, so do not throw out the gift card.

You can use Disney gift cards for anything Disney. This includes hotel reservation deposits, special dining deposits, etc. I have used Disney gift cards myself for a lot of Disney trips. Whatever I don't use gets refunded back to the original gift card. So don't throw them out until all charges and refunds are finalized. Its a pretty easy way to go.

I don't know if it was just me, but the travel agent I used could not use the GCs I provided as a room deposit because Disney told her they no longer accept cards over the phone. This was in September.

We always had to provide a CC for the deposit & charge the rest of the room on the gc at the hotel.

I have used Gift Cards for both the WOC package and the Fantasmic Dessert Package without problem but that was in 2013.

Hi! I believe I used one at the time. I like to save using the gift cards. We are a family of four so I like to use a coupon organizer and put a gift card in a different slot and that's our budget for the day. They may range from $100 to $200 depending if we are eating table service or whatever we have planned for the day. I need to call Disney to see if I can purchase park hoppers over the phone with a gift card. Does anyone know? That previous comment worries me!

you can use multiple cards. But if you want you can combine them on the disneygiftcard site, this way if you cancel you just need to worry about the refund going to one card rather than keeping track of multiple cards.

You can purchase tickets online with a gift card, so there's no need to call. You can only have $1,000 each GC, so you may have to do more than one transaction.

That's weird. I just put some tickets in my basket and when I go to check out it gives the following options:
1. Credit or Debit Card
2. Disney Gift Card or Disney Vacation Account
3. Disney Rewards Redemption Card

Under #2 it says +Add a Disney Gift Card or Disney Vacation Account. Click on that and it lets you enter the gift card number.

I'm not sure why the option is not coming up for you

Yes, there should be an option for that.

Just a note (because it happened to me) - you can't use gift cards to pay for convention/discounted rate tickets. They eventually worked something out because I had a $1000 GC specifically saved to buy tickets and I wasn't going to just suck it up, but generally speaking there's no way to do that...in case that's why you didn't see an option.

the option for dining events is different maybe? there's only a place to prepay with a cc
