Usborne Books?

I am a SAHM trying to find ways to finance my Disney trips (like many people reading this I am sure!)

I am considering being an Usborne Books consultant. I have tried other types of businesses like this in the past (ie, Pampered Chef) and have failed miserably, mostly because I am an introverted person. Now, however, I have the network of school and hockey parents that I could market to.

Has anyone had any experience with this company? From what I can tell, it is a rather low startup cost ($59). I am an avid reader, and work with kids reading in school as a parent volunteer, so books are something I love.

Thoughts?

I've never sold Usborne Books but I am as well a SAHM and I sell Tastefully Simple. I AM NOT a sales person and wasn't sure about selling TS, but I've been doing it since August and I'm in love with the company! Our start up is a little more ($89) but you are able to host a party and have your Host rewards be used towards your start-up. I've known people who have started for either free or discounted because of this!
My advice is to find something you believe in and love! It makes selling the products much easier! I used to sell for a certain candle company and failed big time at it! I thought I just wasn't cut out to do this type of work, but I've showed myself I was wrong! TS is not only going to pay for a upcoming Girls Trip this November but hopefully pay for my husbands surprise trip to the Atlantis for his bday in August!
Good Luck!

I'm an Usborne consultant. I signed up just to get the discount for myself. I can't say much about selling the books because I've never tried, but their books are amazing! And there is absolutely no pressure to sell - the person I signed up under knew that I was only doing to for the personal discount and she has never pressured me to sell more or to have parties.

That's the key point...I love to read, I always have a book in my hand, I read to my kids. We have some books and I think they are incredible.

Well, it sounds like you have a lot of contacts within the right age range for the books. Just as an FYI, I have also seen Usbourne consultants set up at county fairs and craft fairs to sell their goods. I don't know if that's something you want to look into or not, but apparently, it's an option.

We have a book "guy" that is set up at my son's schools. They usually are set up for a week, leave an order sheet and an envelope for checks and money. All the books are delivered to school for parents/teachers to pickup. You might want to check out is you could set something up at your schools.

Thanks for the input. There are a couple of people in the area who just do it for the discount but aren't actively selling, bit that is it for our area. I will have to check at school and see if they would be interested.

I am also a Tastefully Simple consultant, and i agree with what everyone else is saying - find what you love to do and go for it! Low start up is key, and you need to figure out what you can sell with a passion - for me it's food, since i love to eat.. LOL (Oh, actually, it was the drink buckets that sold me.. LMAO) but, if you love your product, it will come naturally to you!
Good luck!!
