so i logged onto usair web site to check my reservation and found that my flights times have been changed. now we have a 35min layover in pittsburg. makes me very nervous our luggage wont make it. besides being nervous about that, i'm pissed that i got no notification about the change. aren't they required by law to tell you if they change your flight. i don't want to even look into changing my tickets because it's $100 fee per person to change the reservation. :headache:

i just wanted to vent. thanks for reading.

If this is for your flight in October you probably would not get notification until it is closer to your trip. Chances are that it will change again before your departure date.
You could call USair to see if they can change your flights now, generally if the change is significant they will allow you to make changes without any penalty fees.

I live in Pittsburgh, 35 minutes isn't a bad connection time, assuming the first flight is on time. The concourses aren't that crowded since USAir is now only flying 1/4 of the flights the airport was designed for their hub.

They should change you free of charge to alternate flights that you hand pick yourself and that are not sold out. A 35 minute layover is not enough for reliable connection.

I disagree. It is a legal connection in PIT, which really isn't all that big or complex of an airport. At most there's a ten minute walk between the furthest gate in "A" and the furthest gate in "B."

OP, just hold on tight, as was pointed out earlier in this thread it will probably change again before your travel date, and at that point you can determine if the flights are suitable or not. If they aren't, you can look at various options, including getting US to change you to different flights on the same travel dates with no change fees which they will gladly do provided there are seats available.

It's spring schedule change time - several legacy carriers are making their schedule changes right now.

Since your flight is in October, they need to advise a LOT of other people first that schedules have changed.

That is one of the risks of booking so far in advance. I agree about sitting tight - chances are that you will also encounter one more change before your flight

Once you book your flights it is your responsibility to keep an eye on them. They may change several times before you fly. PIT is a great airport to connect it.

It is a large airport but easy to get around. If you had a longer time to connect there is a great shopping area in the middle of the airside terminal.

I thought I'd say that our returning flight with US Air from Orlando was delayed due to no flight crew.
We had a connecting flight with a commuter. We landed with minutes until our commuter left. The commuter was on the other side of the Pittsburgh airport.
We ran like crazy to make it.

Our luggage was quickly transferred and loaded on the plane.
Nothing was delayed or missing.

:thumbsup2 to the people who made sure our luggage at Pittsburgh made it to our little commuter with such little time.

Jet-to-jet in PIT, 35 minutes is no problem. Due to the unique X layout, all 100 gates are within 10 minutes walk of each other.
