USAA members

Our auto account was credited today. They took the whole amount of this months bill so that works out perfect for me, less insurance bill right before christmas!

I didnt realize they ever sent an actually check out. Do you all have checking/savings accounts with them? I dont bank with them but perhaps I should.

I used to get checks from them, but this year, I also go a credit.

Can I ask what this is for....we only have our life insurance through them, and I almost always throw out the USAA mail unless its the quarterly bill for our policy. I remember back when we had our auto insurance with them, we used to get the checks. Please tell me I have not been throwing out "good stuff" for years. :guilty:

Okay, I got mine today and was all excited to open it.... only to discover it wasn't a check! Instead I had a letter stating that they were pleased to inform me that they were crediting my insurance account with $49.

I feel somewhat like Clark Griswald in Nat'l Lampoons Christmas Vacation when he didn't get his Christmas bonus.

I've gotten a check from USAA every year since I started using them, and this year we added my husband to the account so I thought we might get even more. :sad2:

Oh well. A credit is a credit (even though if they spread $50 over a 6 month premium that's not going to be very helpful since we pay monthly) and I shouldn't complain.

But I am a little disappointed. ;)

We got a credit too, but ours was only $9 and change. :(

I got my pre-warning letter that our check for $35 is expected to be refunded to us. Big deal!!! It seems like others is larger. My pre-warning letter indicated that 6.4 billion will be refunded to the members. My slice should be larger, huh???

This is wierd. I can't figure out their method. We have 3 bank accounts, credit card, car loan, auto & home insurance with USAA and they mailed us a check! I'd think they would just dump it into one of our bank accounts or credit the insurance bill instead of the expense of cutting and mailing a check. Strange. Oh well, I'll use that $90.94 no matter how it got to me!

My dad said there is some kind of formula, whether it is SSA or dividend and if it's less than a certain amount, they just credit your bill. He also said that some states may not allow a check? Since he's the officer, he gets the SSA, I only get the dividend, but they told me today it was mailed last Saturday and was around $55 (so I'm guessing $50 may be the cutoff?). I don't recall seeing anything from them in the mail, so I'm hoping it shows up soon!

DS got his. I haven't gotten anything. Last year my ExDH got mine "dumped" into his check. Boy was I livid. I thought USAA had it worked out though for this year-------will be calling them as soon as I can.

We have had USAA for 5 years and still haven't received a check from them. I was told when I started asking was that there is an acct(SSA) that all the dividends are put into, until a specific amount. I don't even remember the amount and then the dividends are then released to the customer either through a credit in the account or a released check. I did ask how to get the money out of the SSA, and I don't know if this is really correct or not but the operator said one of us had to die. I just said they could keep it for a while then. ;)

I have this same type of account and I think it sucks. I was also told that I had to die or get a divorce to get the money. Otherwise, only my beneficiaries get it. What's up with that?

The other way to get the money is to terminate all policies. But, since we've been members since '75 that's not going to happen.

Can anyone explain which/how some members are in the group that gets money every years and some of us are in the group that gets a savings account?

I got my check and I have a friend who works for USAA.

She says there are 3 seperate companies within USAA and you get assigned to one. Dependent memberships are all one company and the other 2 are military. I don't know how the 2 miitary groups are split up. Each pays the dividend differently.

I think the credit cut off is $50. My mom got her check which was around $35 and it was a credit...ours was double that since we have 2 cars and we got a check. It could be a more complicated formula like if it is less than 1 months premium.

I have two savings accounts and a checking account with them. Is this refund only for Insurance holders? The monthly debit card rewards have been adding up over the past six months though.

I don't think USAA considers the banking side for the distributions, only the P&C policies. (automobile, homeowners, renters, condos, fire, personal article floater, umbrella, and boat insurance.)

Gosh I wish we could get insurance through them. We have auto loans and a checking account with them. It would be nice to receive some money from them. I could shoot dh for not signing up with them when he was in the military.
