Hi all

As you will see from my signature im from the UK.

Dh and myself have been DVC members for 6 yrs and love coming to Usa for our holidays. Over the years there has been 1 question that has troubled me and because of this I've never really had a cooked breakfast of my choice.

I will explain. For breakfast when I fry an egg I do it on both sides as I cannot stand a 'runny' egg yolk. My Dh however does and takes great pleasure teasing me with his runny yolk. To play it safe I have always ordered scrambled to avoid the yoke issue.

I have seen USA tv programmes and heard phrases like' sunny side up, over easy etc and just wondered what they meant? What should I order to avoid a runny yolk? then again what should DH order??? :confused3

Also I am hoping to go to Palo for brunch ( Fingers x for a a reservation) is there any where that has a recent brunch menu? I was reading a trip report and have heard of eggs benedict? what is that? ( and does it have runny yolk?)

I was hoping someone could tell me what they have for brunch and also onn the other hand warn me which dishes have runny eggs. ( this might seem odd but I really cant stand the sight of them  )

Thanks
for your help!
;)
I hope this makes sense?

Sunny side up is runny...the egg is fried only on the bottom and served pretty white and runny. Over easy is when the egg is flipped once, cooking the yolk side.......this too is runny but in this case only the yolk is runny, not the white part! Hope this helps! If you want, you can tell the waiter that you don't like it runny and they'll hook you up. I always have the same problem when ordering steak...I like it pink but not too light..not raw but not cooked.....always confusing. I hope this helps. :confused3

The way to order your eggs so the yolks are cooked through, is over-hard, which translates to flip it once, break the yolk and cook it until its hard. Traditional eggs benedict is a poached egg on an english muffin with a slice of Canadian bacon and hollandaise sauce on top. The eggs can be served runny, soft or hard. Hope this helps.

If you decide to eat eggs in Palo, then ask to watch them cook your eggs: that way, you can have them just as you want!But...........if you are having brunch, then dont forget to have the fruit pizza........not particularly known in UK, but are just fantastic! :cool1:

If you don't want any runny yolk at all ask for your eggs to be prepared over hard but well done.

Try the Beef Tenderloin instead of the Can. Bacon for eggs benedict. :thumbsup2

What I get is over medium. The yolk is not cooked all the way through but there is no white part that is not cooked.

You can order this at the deck 9 buffet breakfast by going to the middle where they cook the eggs to order. Just ask, they will do that or make an omlette to order for you.

Thanks for the replies so far :thumbsup2

Just wondering if anyone could give more info on the types of food available for brunch or know where there is a menu?

You are not alone - - just looking at runny eggs makes me shudder. I usually order them over, hard or scrambled, hard with the emphasis on "hard" to the server.

There are menus and pictures of the Palo brunch on many web sites, just do a google type search.

Try this site. It has all the recent navigators and menus. Have a great trip.

My link won't work. I will PM the address to you. :)

Just returned from the 2/25-3/4 Western. We did the Palo brunch, which was excellent. Here are some of the things I remember ... keeping in mind I'm sure I'm missing some/many of the things:

Assorted cheeses
Assorted breads/rolls
Assorted cold cuts
Assorted olives
Smoked salmon
Smoked trout
Assorted salads (seafood, pasta, etc.)
Lettuce salad
Assorted fruit
Proscuitto-wrapped asparagus
Caviar
Crab legs
Jumbo shrimp
Snow crab claws
Pizza (a few different kinds to choose from, including dessert pizza)
Made-to-order omelettes
Made-to-order dishes (chicken parmigiana, shell pasta w/cream sauce, tomato, and broccoli, baked fish w/ asparagus risotto, beef tenderloin, etc.)
Desserts (many!)

I am in the US and have never heard of fruit pizza. What type of fruit?? This doesn't sound appealing to me. Is it really that good?? :confused3

I just wanted to mention that I'm not too fond of DCL's scrambled eggs through room service or the buffet--so that might not be the best option for you either. They must be those kind in a bag that they then cook up--they taste too fluffy and fake. For fresh eggs, your best bet is the made-to-order ones mentioned previously.

I have not heard it called fruit pizza but I have had the dessert pizza (with marscapone (sp) cheese and fruit...there is a pic at the link below on the pizza photo...it all the way in the back) at Palo and is was very good!!! There is also a pic of the eggs benedict with the hollandaise sauce on top.

Here are some pics of the brunch so you can get an idea of what they offer....just click the link and go through the pics...

Thank you so much. Your photos were great!

I'm so pleased I saw the chocolate covered strawberries - I know not very nutritional for a breakfast - but my fave! :goodvibes

You want to ask for them over easy or over hard depending on how much you want the yolk cooked. Over easy may be slightly runny, over hard the yolk should be fully cooked. Or just tell them to fry it and make sure the yolk is fully cooked not runny.
