Does anyone know if you can use a US sim card in a UK mobile phone? We will be in WDW in April and were going to buy a couple of US mobile phones when we arrive in Orlando. However, we were wondering if we could just buy a couple of US sim cards and use them in our UK mobile phones.

Has anyone done this?

Any help would be appreciated! :)

If the phone is unlocked and Tri band then you should not have a problem. You may find your voicemail retervial is messed up- it depends on how compatable your phone is with the network over there.

If your phone is on Orange or T-mobile, the chances are it is locked so, some voda and O2 are too, if you know someone here with a diferent network sim, see if your phone takes it, if so and its triband then it should be ok.

I'm on Vodafone, my phone is quad band (Nokia 5800). Not sure if its locked, will have to find out I suppose!

if you're on a contract and your phone was purchased with the contract it will be locked but its very easy to unlock. For 5 quid I got our phones unlocked from a market stall but I know many shops in town that will do it - either phone shops or any electrical places - generally not the big name stores, more likely the independant ones.

Once unlocked then with quad band it will work with a US sim no problem.
