Hi all

Does anyone have any idea where I can find school holiday dates in the US online? I don't know if I'm being especially dumb tonight but I can't find them anywhere! We may be changing our holiday date tonight as my friends wants to book a Florida wedding, so I want to know when to tell her to avoid!!

Thanks!:goodvibes

I depends on the school district. What month are they thinking? The best thing to do is look at Disney's busiest times and that is when most people are on vacation.

Oh, thanks - where do I find those?

Not sure on a date, we just know we want to avoid US and UK school holidays to try keep the crowds down in the parks - I'm thinking possibly October.

October is definitely an off peak time. Even September is good as US school year begins late August and colleges in early September. Again, exact times depend on the district. Just be aware of US public holidays as this can contribute to large crowds over that time.

Also, the recent extended free dining upped the crowd levels in the traditionally "off peak" times this year. There is no guarantee, but there are safe bets. We are doing October this year - our first off season trip.

Not sure of dates but most schools go back after labor weekend if not before at the start of september. We went then in 08 and it was really quiet. Think labour day is 1st monday in sept but not certain
Think some areas start their summer holidays from near the start of june, but they are staggered

Standard US National Holidays where most school districts are off:
January 1 - New Year's Day
3rd Monday in January - Martin Luther King Day
3rd Monday in February - Presidents' Day
Last Monday in May - Memorial Day
July 4 - Independence Day
1st Monday in September - Labor Day
2nd Monday in October - Columbus Day
November 11 - Veterans' Day
4th Thursday in November - Thanksgiving (plus the day after)
Friday after 4th Thursday in November - Day after Thanksgiving
December 25 - Christmas Day

Also, schools are off for spring break for a week. The actual week varies by school district, but falls sometime from the beginning of March to the beginning of April. Easter time is also very busy. School is out from the beginning of June and start again between mid-August and the day after Labor Day. September, October, and the beginning of November have low traffic. The beginning of January through mid-February also has lower attendance.
