I just noticed that the "US Open of Surfing & Beach Games" starts in Huntington Brach this year during the last 4 days of our vacation. We had planned on going to HB one day of our stay, so I assume we should avoid this time period (as well as Sat/Sun?).

But on the flipside, is this event worth attending as spectators? Have any of you ever been?

I am not sure if this event is worth it. I have never been and my girls and DH are surfers.

When is your vacation? I might have to see if we can swing it.

Never been to the US Open, but whenever they have events like that (surfing, pro volleyball, etc.) they have a lot going on in downtown Huntington Beach. It is really crazy, but if you plan on parking a little ways away and walking there, it can be fun to stroll through all the booths, food stands, etc. If your kids like surfing and/or the beach, or want that "Southern California" feel, it could be a good place to go.

HB local here. It's a lot of fun, but downtown Huntington Beach is super busy. Don't pay for seats, just go down there one of the days the contest is going on. There is a lot to see and do.
