US/IOA First Week in Jan

Hey all!

Husband, Mom, and I are making a trip to the motherland Dec 29th-Jan 6th. Mom mentioned she would really like to make a trip to the darkside during our stay...truthfully I don't know why she doesn't like thrill rides or watch Harry Potter, but when she went 5 years ago she just really liked being there..

So that's the back story...here's the question...
Is it worth even attempting this? I was thinking if we went we would go either Jan 2nd (Wed) or Jan 3rd (Thurs). I know the crowds will still be heavy due to how the Christmas breaks are falling this year...so I'm afraid that we will spend a ton of money for one day of misery...I really have no desire to spend $70 pp on Express passes either so that's out...so I am currently imagining us just walking circles in a huge crowds in US/IOA because all the ride lines are really long...(hopefully that's over dramatic...but I'm not so sure)

So there is the dilemma...what would you do, what are your thoughts?

Agreed...not as bad as Holiday Hell Week but bad enough.
