US English versus English English & customs & attitudes etc etc etc

Hi everyone, it's me again (sorry!!)

Just had to post this little note before I forgot. Thought you US people might find it amusing to note that the British don't generally regard themselves as part of Europe (although technically we are of course). Very proud of our solitude, stuck out seperate away from the rest of Europe out at the top left hand corner! The British public as a whole fight vigorously for their independant identity - like not wanting to join the common currency for instance.

We will often talk about Europe as if it's nothing to do with us, e.g. "I will be going across to Europe" or "they're not like that in Europe" etc.

Don't worry 2BoysMum&Dad, I didn't think that all Brits acted like this at weddings. I just found this incident amusing and wanted to share my story.

I live in the county of Surrey (which is just below London) and don't think I have any sort of "regional" accent and will often describe my voice as "not having an accent". Whoever you are, you will not think you have an accent!

No, what I meant was that I hardly have any trace of a southern accent... people are surprised when they find out where I'm from. I just have more of a general American sound, rather than specifically southern American.
