Does anyone know about an unofficial guide to Universal theme parks (best day of the week, itinerary to avoid lines, etc)?

I don't know of one, but I'm sure that there is something.

The absolute best way is to stay at a universal resort. That way you get FOTL privileges and can avoid the lines.

Staying at a Universal resort is the best way. If you're not doing that, go early and hit the big rides first. They do have a fastpass-like system that you can get an express pass from for many rides. Try posting on the Universal/IOA part of this board, you'll get more responses.

There actually is an Unofficial Guide to Universal Orlando. However, the same thing is in the back of the Unofficial Disney World Guide.

I'm moving, and mine is packed, so I can't verify that it has the information that you're looking for!

Online, try www.usoinfo.com

I completely agree with the 2 posts above that said staying on property is the best solution. This past weekend was the first time my wife and I stayed on property (RPR) while visiting Universal Orlando, and it deffinitely won't be the last. Listening to other people talk about that advantage made me pretty excited for it, and now that I've experienced it, wow! We're both hooked now.

I was at Islands of Adventure on a Thursday and their was barely any crowd. Some of the rides I walked right on. The longest wait time was 40 minites for any ride. On Wednesday at Universal it was the same way. I was told best days to go were on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday.
