I booked my flight for 11 people back in May at the time I "choose" seats. So I got an email confirmation today and for fun I went in to see our assigned seats again. They weren't there and worse of all there were 2 available seats to choose from. 2 for 11 people! So I called United because it was listed as untited flight ... after a frusterating conversation with a computer I got a person who said I am actually on a US airways flight and I would have to call them. So I made yet another LONG phone call to get a US Airways rep who said yes she only has 2 seat to assign but that doesn't mean we will be bumped. We will get our seats at the gate instead...

Has this ever happened to anyone? Did you get seats together?

I am concerned because my brother has young children ( and energentic) and I have a DD w/ ADHD and a DS w/ aspergers.

You are on a codeshare flight so although you booked with UA, you will check in with USAir. Yes they give out seats at the gate all the time. Usually from the "preferred" or extra-legroom seats that are held if anyone wants to pay extra for them and often many are left empty. Just explain to the gate agent the makeup of your party. And don't be late getting to the gate, or you could be bumped - make sure you are there and ready to speak to the agent 45 minutes to an hour before scheduled departure time.
