Has anybody looked at flights on their site today? We're looking for Nov, been checking almost every day. They were running 122 each way, now showing 529 each way for all their flights there & back (phl to mco). Wondering if there's a computer-glitch that anybody's heard of, like the one for those checking in yesterday.

Have no fear, I'm pretty sure it's a glitch in the system. I'm also looking to fly out of PHL on 10/28, and the flights were $122 and now up to $529.

US Air just merged thier system with America West over weekend. The automated kiosks at PHL were down over the weekend due to the system merge and caused a huge mess for US Air that made the local news. I have a feeling ticketing is a mess right now.

If you check, the prices increase to $529 for all flights starting in Oct, yet Sept is still fine. My best guess is that they haven't corrected the system for 4Q 2007 and on.

If they don't correct in the next few days, then I'd be a little concerned.

That's what I was thinking too. I'm really hoping once the glitch is fixed that the prices are lower than before!!! I've been watching the flights we like, but if we can't get a good deal I'll just wait for SW again. But, doesn't hurt to keep looking!

I had been checking USAirs fares every day since I booked our 1-way flights from SYR to MCO in June. We got the fares at $89+. Within a couple days the fare went up to $135. Yesterday, the fare skyrocked to $224 and is the same today. I was wondering if they were "pulling a little trick" on prospective customers with these fares - showing them extraordinary high then dropping the fare thinking that people will jump on the reduced prices. :confused3 I sure am glad, though, that we got the $89 fare!!!:thumbsup2

Yep, I've been checking weekly for a flight leaving the morning of 10/28. $122 isn't too bad one-way for US Air, and I prefer having an assigned seat via US then going with SW. BUT, it's still a little ways off before SW posts flights for late-Oct.

I've been watching the available seats, and if the US flight starts to fill, then I'll grab my tickets. I have a feeling when SW posts the Oct flights, US air may drop to $99 or less, so I still want to play the waiting game as long as seats are available.

Another reason the US issues looks like a glitch ... EVERY SINGLE flight is listing the same 529 price, where usually you'll get a variety of prices depending on the departure/arrival time.

From SYR, the prices had jumped a significant amount and they are not all the same prices. Even the 1st class prices are different. :confused3

Must be a mistake as a one way from PVD to Mco was 1180.00! YYikes...

Same thing happened for me, I had been checking my flights they were low and now are just crazy high. out of LAX or ONT. But mine changed about 1 week ago. =(

If you can stay away from the US Airways site for a few days you may see a difference. This past weekend is when they combined their computer systems. The kiosks were also down in Charlotte and there were long lines.

Well considering you couldn't check in for a USAir flight using Kiosks yesterday I would say that the merger has hit another bump in the road.

(Hey USAir you are suppose to TEST before you go live!!!)

Based on this thread on flyertalk.com I would say that the problems were few and far between ;)

I agree with Safetymom - if you don't need to purchase a ticket TODAY, just wait a day or two until the glitches have been ironed out....

- bavaria (who is still waiting after 3 years for United to iron out the glitch which forces me to make up a US address every time I book a ticket online..)

CarolA, you know that US Airways is challenged in the IT dept. :) They have been making excuses for months now.

And this is why I was a member of "Keep Delta My Delta" Delta may NOT be perfect, but IMHO if you already have issues because of merger one the way to fix them is NOT to merge with another MAJOR airline and try to bring three IT systems together. (I worked for a company that did that, I thought we were going to have to do financials with an excel spreadsheet that first year end and this was a HUGE company LOL!)

I jumped to Delta. At least they aren't forever giving me excuses. I was so tired of all the excuses I couldn't take it anymore with US. I still have a lot of miles and am Silver preferred but will only fly them when Delta can't get me there.

I jumped to Delta.
I am in shock..... did they at least status match for you?

When I jumped ship from Air Canada to United I realized how much better life was on the United side - status match, no more cardboard seats, double miles for every flight.... ahhh, the good life! ;)

Oh yes they status matched for me. :) I stuck through US when they were struggling as an airline many years ago. I stuck with them when they stuck Pittsburgh with the airport leases after getting all kinds of money and cooperation from the city and county. I supported them through the bankruptcy. I finally got tired of all the excuses when you tried to check in for a flight, had to fly on US and America West and the computers couldn't talk to each other. Employee attitudes were nasty instead of the formerly nice gate agents and flight attendants. They chased me away. It's a shame when an airline does this.

I had belonged to Delta for years but never preferred. My flights have been great on Delta. No excuses. I joined the Keep Delta my Delta.

I see US is still having issues with their kiosks and it looks like it isn't an easy fix. They could have been a great airline but they decided they knew better than anyone how to fix an airline. :(

I have no idea what's up with USAir's pricing - I've been watching a fare (not to Orlando) stay consistently at $153 for weeks. On Sunday, it shot up $100 and within 15 minutes was back down to $153. I bought it immediately and 12 hours later it was back up. Today it's up to $298. ack.

It has got to be a glitch in the system. For me to fly from Salisbury, MD to Orlando the price is $1340 (I usually pay $200) to fly out of Baltimore its $1244 (unheard of!)

I am staying away from USAir until they get it together!

When USAirways gets its newly merged reservation system under control the fares will return to normal. I laughed when a saw a local fare to MCO at over $1200 yesterday. Of course prior to checking that fare I was looking at US Air's promo about "Now lower fares from PA!"

There was definitely a problem with the computer system. We flew US Air out of MCO on Sunday. Our flight was supposed to leave at 6:40. When there was no plane at the gate by 6:00 I was getting nervous and went to check the board since there was no one at the gate. The flight was rescheduled to leave at 7:48 but we only had a one-hour layover in Charlotte. I went to another gate and asked what was going on. She said the original flight was going to be a little over an hour late and they changed the gate so we were sitting at the wrong one. I was very nervous about making my connection in Charlotte since the layover went from being a little over an hour to about 4 minutes. She said not to worry. OK. The plane never left until almost 8:30 and we had about 5-10 minutes in Charlotte to catch the connecting flight. The thing that really irked me was no one seemed to know anything. I got on the first flight and asked about making the connecting flight and was told "I have no idea." Gee that was helpful. I was worried that me and my kids would have to spend the night on the floor in Charlotte because that was the last flight out. I know while we were going to our gate there were people running through the airport to catch what I assume were late connecting flights. It was a mess. We finally made it back to NH at about 12:30 that night, which was only about an hour late because even though we left two hours late from MCO our hour layover was eliminated. I was very frustrated with US Air because no one seemed to have any information. A lot of the people I spoke with that day who were traveling to different places were very aggravated. I hope it is all fixed now and I hope to never fly again on a day when they are changing over their computer system or whatever they were doing.
