We are going on DCL in March, 2008. We usually fly Southwest. However, we are flying over spring break and I understand that Southwest doesn't offer deep discounts during this time to Florida. Also, I probably can't book Southwest until the fall for March flights. However, I can book US Airways now. US Airways also offers port check-in.

Has anybody flown US Airways from Phoenix and had any bad or good experiences?

Bumping up!

Has anyone had experience with US Air changing flights after you made ressie?

I've flown us airways before and after the merger with AmWest. I haven't had any problems with them. They are always at the the bottom of customer satisfaction and on time stats, but my experiences have been positive. I haven't had any flight data changes, but I did have an issue with them changing the aircraft type and they reassigned my seat. I just went to my resevation online and chose another seat. HTH.

I have flown on USAirways numerous times from various cities and I have to say although it is convenient to have an assigned seat, I would much prefer to fly SWA just because they are more customer oriented. Before the merger, I thought they were great but I think they have gone down hill since pairing up with AWA.
The trouble with Phoenix and MCO is that only 2 airlines offer non-stop flights to Orlando, otherwise we are doing a layover in some busy hub like Atlanta! I am currently waiting on SWA as my trip will be the end of November and I just have to hope for the best as USAirways is quoting a $416/rt pp.
And if you do fly on USAirways (or any other airline) make your flight time as early in the day as possible as this decreases your chances that it will be delayed or canceled. I worked for Mesa Air for 3 years in operations and so I'm speaking from a little experience.
I hope that helps. Happy flying! :)

Thanks! I have to tell you, I have not flown America Worst (did I say that out loud) in years and definitely not since the merge. I have friends who have had horrible experiences with AWA and I am really debating about whether to book with them or not. Being able to check in at Port Canaveral is a real bonus. On the other hand, I am really nervous about SWA not having any better fares in the fall and then USAirs prices going up. I'm so :confused3 !!!!

I can't talk with experience with Phoenix/America West, but we've had quite a few bad experiences with US Airways over the past few years. Lately, especially, the planes seem dirty and the crew have seemed annoyed with their jobs - although maybe with good reason.

Over the past year I've flown frequently on USAir, including through the PHX hub. I can honestly say I haven't had a problem. It's definitely cleaned up from a few years ago. Flying on any airline today is not the same as it was in the past. The glory days are over. USAir out of PHX is as good a choice as any. I wouldn't hesitate to book a USAir flight.
