We usually fly Continental Dublin / Newark / MCO in the summer and pay around €2,800 (£1,874) for 2 adults and 2 kids. This year the Continental prices are almost €800 more expensive. We are flying with Delta at Christmas and got a great €1,600 (£1,070) fare for all 4 of us but Delta is the same price as Continental for next summer.

We've found flights for €2,800 with US Airways via Philly and I wondered if anyone has used them and what was your opinion.

Would commencing in Manchester or down dat der London?

If MAN they were really good, we travelled with them last year. The Airbus with the seat backs through the craft is a great standard with a standard 34in pitch which is pretty impossible to beat in economy.

If from DUB then you will be on the 767's they operate. There are inferior as far as entertainment as they have ceiling screens that you cannot control. I am sure the service will be spot on the same with food and drink which was v good

Any more details please PM me.

As long as they have all the correct safety certification I would save the money!!

I'm not particularly looking forward to United at Christmas, but the fare was pretty good (only booked in June) that I can suffer a little inconvenience for the exact dates I wanted!

We've only flown with them once and that was to Las Vegas via Philly a couple of years ago. However I wouldn't fly with them again! All of their flights were late. As a result we missed our flight from Philly to Las Vegas. Nobody could advise us on were to go to sort out another flight, we wre sent backwards and forwards around the airport! :confused3 On our return we literally got of the plane at Philly and got on our flight for Manchester and 10 minutes later we took off. Our flight attendants were rude and disinterested. Plus they managed to lose thousands of pieces of luggage in Philly over the Christmas and New year period. In fact there were news reports saying that the airline was going to be investigated because of the shambles!!

We fly to the States frequently to see DH's family and I have to say this was the worst airline that we have used. However I'm sure that other people will have used them and have good experiences to report!

Good luck! :goodvibes

After many years of flying with Virgin we flew with US Airways last year for the first time (Manchester to Philly to MCO). The in flight entertainment system was much better than Virgin's, so was the food and the crew were friendly and helpfull. Seat pitch seemed bigger but not sure if it was and the fares were cheaper.

We have booked to fly with them again this Christmas.

Only downside is they don't fly direct.

We have flown with them on every one of our trips to Orlando. We always go from Manchester to MCO via Philly and have found them to be very good. Occasionally a flight may have been delayed due to weather conditions - but that can apply to all airlines.

Seat pitch is reasonable in economy - even better in Envoy (business class), to which we have been fortunate enough to be upgraded more then once.

The cabin crew tend to be on the more mature side than on UK airlines - but we have found them to be friendly and helpful.

We would not hesitate to fly with them again.

Julie

I was about to make a comment about the FA's, they are more mature and less smiley than we have come to expect on flights we have in the uk. They were however very efficient and pleasant.

Delays are more than often out of the airlines control, the baggage will be done by a seperate firm.

The A330 seat pitch in US Airways is 3in more than Virgins in economy so it is more than reasonable imo

I'm hoping for a good trip with US airways in Oct, we fly Manchester to Philly and then on to Orlando. Never flown with them before, but I'll be sure to post the details when I return!

I'd appreciate hearing how you got on :thumbsup2

Did MAN to Philly with them a couple of years back, and they were fine Jakki.. the seats were ok too, for a 6-footer. Was a massive saving over the direct option with Virgin, and yes, I'd use them again.

Mike :)

Thanks - at the end of the day the are a means to an end so we will probably book them
