HI there..

Has anyone flown US air before? what are there planes like? Service? Seating? Just what there experience was like.. Thanks Sarah

USAir is a major domestic carrier. I've flown them a lot and found them to be more or less like all the other big or "legacy" carriers. Sometimes you get great service, usually it's just okay, and occasionally, it's terrible. Their fleet is large and varied -- you could be on a large Airbus or Boeing 757 style jet, a smaller Boeing 737, a smaller commuter jet (like a Canadair or Embraer Regional JEt) that seats 50-70 people, or even a much smaller turbo-prop plane. It totally depends on your flight. Usually you can go to the website and look up the equipment for that flight, but realize that it could always change.

There's a great website -- www.seatguru.com -- that you can select the airline and the equipment and see what their typical seating configuration is.

Also, like most other carriers, USAir doesn't offer much in the way of food service. Generally it's just a snack (think a bag of pretzels or a cereal bar) and soda/juice/coffee. For shorter flights, you don't even get the snack sometimes!

I've flown USAir quite a bit and had no trouble with them. In fact, they were my preferred airline for quite a while but mainly because when my sister lived in Ohio, they had the most flights at the times that I wanted to fly out there.

That's not to say that they were perfect. I have had some problems with them. The first, would be weather related more than anything, so it didn't stop me from flying with them. It was Christmas Eve a few years back when half the country was dealing with ice storms and extreme cold. We were delayed and delayed and delayed, but eventually arrived in Ohio.

Another time however...our flight from Boston had a stop in Pittsburgh and then on to Dayton. No changing planes - just a stop. We were delayed leaving Boston, but not too bad. Arrived in Pitt and the other passengers got off. Those of us flying onto Dayton stayed on. We sat there for at least 20 minutes when we could hear the flight crew talking. Come to find out, they sent another plane from Pitt to Dayton in our place and decided that our plane wasn't going to Dayton that night. There were at least a dozen passengers. And at first, they weren't going to put us up in a hotel...but we fought for it and eventually won out. They also messed up my rebooking, but I got that fixed when I checked in the next morning...but my luggage ended up on the later flight.

Probably more nfo than you wanted. But I would still fly them.

I am a preferred flier with USAirways. Their front line workers are the best. I try to go out of my way to fly them. What type of plane will you be flying?

We had a great time on US air-friendly prompt. While my teenage girls were filming the captain invited my son into the cockpit-had him sit in his seat, wear his hat and play the the controls-of course this was before take off. MY kids had a blast and will never forget it. MY daughter got hold of one of the seatbelt things and did the demonstration as the safty audio was playing. Don't know how far you are flying-food is extra-you do get a drink and some pretzels transcontinenatl. Have fun flying!

On any of the big airlines you can have good days and bad days.. I don't think USAir is dramatically worse or better then the others. A LOT depends on your airport and your flight crew!

Me too! Since coming through their bankruptcy they seemed to have trimmed the bad apples, and the best employees are the ones left.

USAirways is PHL's dominant carrier and we've used them dozens of times. Since SWA arrived, fares are finally competitive for markets they share. We're using USAirways for a family reunion in Dallas in October; the Wright Amendment prohibits our booking SWA for a non-stop flight to Dallas. USAirways has no such prohibitions. But we're using SWA for our November WDW trip. So we use both airlines.

PHL has had some well-publicized labor issues and service here is fairly mediocre. Baggage handling can be absymal in PHL, but is fine in MCO, DFW, SFO, etc. In-flight service is okay; nothing special.

I fly US Airways all the time. I'm a DM member as well. They are not perfect, but no airline is. I only had one issue when my flight from MCO was cancelled due to a technical issue with the aircraft. Everyone was so rude to the employees. I kept my cool and they upgraded the four of us to 1st class on the next flight out!

fly usair all the time...using them in oct for our disney trip...i always try to book them....

We have flown them several times (dominant carrier out of PHL). We haven't had any major problems with them, but their airplanes do seem a bit old compared to the other airlines we have flown. They also have the slowest baggage service out of all the airlines we have flown.

No major problems, and we would fly them again if their price and flight times were the best out of PHL.

I work for US Airways - and I will try to give you my unbiased opinion.

US Airways, like most other carriers, has its problems - both internal and external. Competition is fierce (especially with jetBlue and Southwest). This leads to lower costs, but it also means the airline looses money. That being said, the people that work for the company are extremely proud of the product they present. The aircraft are well maintained, and the aircraft appearance and cleaning groups are among the best in the industry. The aircraft are relatively young in age, and ther pilots are experienced. It is a good, solid airline to fly. As for catering, all airlines are cutting back - both in quantity and quality.

To sum this up - US Airways is a good solid airline. Complaints are relatively high compared to some other carriers, but you can expect a a pleasant and enjoyable flight presented by people that honestly do care.

I love US Airways but I think the cleaning crews need to do a better job on the seats and tray tables. Some of them are nasty.
