US 98 from Hattiesburg to Mobile

Has anyone driven this road lately? we drove it back in '05 and are going down to WDW in a few weeks.

Last time it was OK but we lost time on the two lane stretch from the AL state line to I-10 in Mobile. Wondering if it might be better or quicker just to go south from Hattiesburg to I-10.

Anyone out there done this?

The 2-lane section of US98 is only 7 miles long; hardly a reason to drop down to I-10 from Hattiesburg. Once you reach I-65 in northwest Mobile you'd take that road down to I-10.

Most of the way it is four lane but it is still pretty slow going depending on the day, and time of day. But even with the delay I dont think its worth the extra time to go to the coast.
