Urgent prayers and PD needed for 10 year old!!

Very sad situation BUT am I missing something ? Why hasn't she been admitted to a good Child psychiatric unit before she does lasting or lethal damage to herself. Loosing 1/2 her body weight is a major danger. She may have already done permanent heart damage. I am glad you are concerned but it is time for action not just thoughts and prayers. There was another post where the mother wasn't feeding her baby enough so it wouldn't get fat and everyone was saying call social services. This child needs serious immediate help. people die from anorexia! and this is a minor she doesn't have the right to kill herself. Has the DR. who has given her the meds seen her recently if she is as bad as you say they need to know. I hope I am over reacting and all she needs is some encouragement but from your post I don't think I am.

My thoughts too. Also, is the DOCTOR missing something? We have a man in our church congregation who kept losing weight, losing weight, losing weight and no one could figure out WHY. He had a tumor on his pancreas that had been missed for 2 years! He was lethargic, didn't want to eat, and his entire personality changed through the ordeal. He's getting medical treatment now and is starting to come back. Just a thought. Whatever it is, I hope she gets the help she needs before there is irreversible damage.

Good post Joshsmom. This poor little girl needs to be taken to a Children's Hospital where she can be completely evaluated by pediatric specialists mentally and physically,like yesterday.

And I do agree with the other posters who have said that there is something going on either physically or mentally that needs to be taken care of right away. I pray that the problem is found quickly.

I was thinking this also. There seems to be more here that you know, and perhaps another doctor should take a look. When my DGD was born, she started to lose weight immediately. The pediatritian was not concerned, but it continued. Long story, but thank GOd she took her to another Dr. The little one had reflux, and was also diagnosed with failure to thrive. What one Dr thought was "normal" had another appalled. Our little Princess is much better now, but I worry if DD had continued with the first Dr's care. Please try to get Ciera additional help. Hi!

Thank you for your prayers!!! To those of you who expressed extreme concern....I AGREE!! I need to talk to her Mother and find out what they've already done and present her with more options! I really appreciate the input about other possible causes because I do feel they are missing something too!! I know she has been through batteries of tests but I don't know the specifics.

Up to this point, I have been "minding my own business", but I know it's out of control and I need to speak up. Our whole family is baffled.

Hi again!

I just want to thank you all again for your thoughts, prayers and input!

I just wanted to add a little info. that I didn't include in order to keep the post short.. I don't know all the details but......Her parents, especially her Mom (my cousin), have been quite pro-active in getting her into counseling and they have had a lot of tests run. I honestly think they are at their wit's end and aren't thinking clearly. My Mom and I are going to talk to my cousin and see what we can do. I think that when you see a situation every day, you don't always realize how bad it is because it's a gradual thing. Until last weekend, I hadn't seen Ciera since Christmas and there had definitely been a huge change in her appearance and behavior. We ARE going to discuss this with the parents...............Also, they have a 13 year old daughter who is abosolutely "normal" and incredibly well adjusted.

I will definitely let you know when we have any updates!!
