I work in a mental health clinic and we have had a man call and thry to make an appointment for his girlfriend and we can't give him any info due to hippa. He has called 4 times getting more angry and agitated each time. This last time he said he was going to come down here. Please pray for our safety.

So he's trying to make an appointment for his girlfriend to see a counselor? Sure sounds like he needs to also make an appointment for himself.

I am a little confused, though. Who can't you give him info on making an appointment because of HIPAA? What privacy are you violating by making an appointment?

Maybe there is just something missing from your post - hope everything is ok.

I will pray but you might be misreading his frustration for anger. It is very very hard for loved-ones to care for someone who can't care for themselves. Since this man is in no way yet related he is very excluded. Watching someone turn into a puddle of mush right in front of you when you are powerless is very very upsetting, I would imagine the girlfriend is in quite a state. When he comes with the girlfriend it would be best to show kindness, he is probably just distressed and frustrated. Things look very different when you are on the inside looking out. I hope everything goes ok

I hope your first action was to call security not post on the Dis. Don't really get how prayer will help in this situation, unless you want to pray for the guy with the problem.

Because we do not have security, and the policy here is we do not call the police unless something happens. And I believe in prayer for protection for me and my coworkers.

We are very strict here about HIPPA - we cannot acnowledge someone is even a client here unless they sign a release to that person.

Yes, the last thing he said was he was coming down here to "teach us a lesson." So of course we are all on edge.

Yes. That is a pretty strong threat he made. It's worth a call to police.

She doesn't even have to have an appointment - which we told him - we offer emergency visits for those in need. Then, while she is here, she can also fill out the release for him. We aren't cold and uncaring. We just have to follow the rules or we will lose our jobs. Right or wrong, thats the policy and we have to follow it.

Because I am the sort of person who prays for everything. You may not agree, but that is the way I am.

Really...the first thing I always do when I have a problem, or am in fear for my life, or have a bad day, is post on the DIS BEFORE I do anything else....NOT!!
