Urgent help needed

Hi looking for answer from all you experts, if someone has to go to the USA urgently can it be done without the 72 hrs notice with the ESTA? This would be an extreme emergency.

Hi Cheryl, found this little bit of info for you
When to apply?
The online version is available for use now and should be completed at least 72 hours before departure – applications can be made after that but they run the risk that approval may not be received ahead of travel.

I'm confused now as I completed my ESTA forms last week on line and got "approval" immediately??

Should I be receiving something else????

thanks netty, a long story but a family member might have to go to the usa urgently to rescue his daughter from her deranged husband who tried to kill her, she is in hiding and trying to get home and as he has never been out the country me and dh are trying to help as much as poss, my dh might have to go with him, its all extremely confusing just now, and we are waiting for more info so fingers crossed she is on plane as we speak.

OMG what about contacting the us embassy or the police in that area? I hope everything works out alright in the end and you get her back asap

In June my husband completed the ESTA form online and then flew 48 hours later with no problems. Hope that helps.

thanks folks for help, the loony husband has been arrested and i think bail is set at 100,000 dollars but as no one he knows has that kind of cash i think he is still in custody, she is in hiding has taken everything she owns but might have to stay till it goes to court, her dad desparately wants her home , i have given them the embassy info and we have to wait to see what happens now, apparently this has been going for a long time and she was too afraid to tell anyone, and for the last week it has been tense, her dad kept telling her to just leave but she wanted to be brave and face him!! and now he went crazy and attacked her with a hammer, she managed to escape, phoned cops and got to hospital, her friend rescued her and he is in custody, so its just a waiting game. her dad is frantic, and as he has never been out of the country he wouldnt know what to do, by good fortune he has a new passport, so we just have to wait by my dh will go if needed . its quite scary, its the back of beyond of maryland and we have just got to wait.

I hope he's kept in custody and she can come home soon.

not too sure how the american system works with bail and such so hopefully it will mean that if the money cant be raised then he cant get out and at least she is safe for now, what her dad wants is for her to come home now and if the court case was to take place later then he can go back with her but not sure if that is allowed and as it is all so difficult to make communication with her he just has to wait.
